Not sure which girls’ school you are referring to. As per zac’s mum comment, it depends.
CHIJ OLGC >2km should have good chancestarbuckss\" post_id=\"1988533\" time=\"1596108255\" user_id=\"96233:
My child is singaporean and distance from my house to school is 5km. Not sure if really have chances as it is a girls school.
OLGC - 87 places.
OLN - 83 places.
RGPS - 76 places.
If it’s the first two, good chance. If it’s RGPS, most likely no chance. -
I now in the verge between OLGC vs PLMG.

Both more than 2km…
Which school higher chance for phase 2C?
OLGC vs PLMG which school better? -

we are speaking of 2C. Dont try ATS and St Nick at 2C if you are more than 1km away.Lexy\" post_id=\"1986967\" time=\"1595324920\" user_id=\"12180:

if you only have these 3 choices. you have only 1 option - CHIJ OLGC. Anything more than 1km for ATS and ST nicks is a waste of choice.
if 2B for OLGC below 20, quite likely go in without balloting.
Stress now.
Look at the number of applicants at the end of 2B. if applicant number is below 20 for OLGC under 2B, 2C quite likely to go in without balloting.
Dont stress, need you to focus.
PLMG TUR so far is in the region of 1-2km balloting this year. Even if there is an unlikely chance of >2km balloting, the numbers available for >2km vs the applicants >km will be a very low chance.
For OLGC, as I mentioned earlier, if 2B is less than 20 (which really turned out 20), 2C should be okie for you. This school cannot be a option for 2CS, as most likely, within 2km will take all up.
You can consider back Marymount or CHIJ Katong or St Anthony Canossian if you are looking for missionary girl school for your available option. Maybe other can spot more option for you.
I think you tortured yourself enough to calculate distance from various schools like SNGS and ATS 1.++km etc. Try to assess your option to include all realistic and available option but not try to cut to the edge based on stats, try to work on a buffer unless you already have a sure in backup in 2Cs.
For you and for the rest viewing this forum:
Rank the school in terms of preference, take away all not possible options, assess your risk profile and make sure your safety net is there. Try not to look at a pure available number and rush in, you may think the figure is big but you don't realise there is a bigger applicants number coming in.
If you are thinking for a good year, the results will turn out better than before, please think again. High birth rate coupled with pure online and no visual on the breakdown of number, I think its a pure nightmare going for this year registration. For those who are thinking of withdrawing in earlier phase and join 2C, please assess properly as well.
Forum has quiet down a fair bit, FB and various WA group should have more activities now, you may seem to get better info nowadays, but i still see people making the same mistake when making school choices. For those who are viewing here quietly, remember selecting school choices and entering to the school is just the first step of primary school life. The learning road is long and consistent & appropriate guidance and walking the journey with your child is far more important than this selection process.
Cool down, think about it, make the choice according to your risk profile.
All the best. -
Good post!
For what it’s worth, I agree that the rest of the primary school journey is far more important than just getting into the school/not getting into the school.
Some people may die-die be aiming for a certain school, for whatever own preference. If religion, I can understand. But apart from that, there is not much difference between a super popular school & its balloting-free alternative “twin” in 2C.
If u can secure a confirmed seat in 2C this year, I really think you should.
There have been many stories of kids who cannot cope despite parents getting them into the so-called hot schools.
DS just had a new transfer classmate who left NYPS. Struggling to grasp easy Math concepts during lessons. Another case in RMPS too, failing mini tests in lower primary.
If u can get a more forgiving type of school, please go, for your child’s sanity. Parents say they only want the best for their child. Consider what is truly best for them. -

Absolutely agree with the above.
But apart from that (religion), there is not much difference between a super popular school & its balloting-free alternative “twin” in 2C.
-
I don’t think PLMGS is even an option available for SC > 2km.

A friend is asking, is SJIJ expected to ballot within 1km this year for 2C?
