I guess if admin don't disclose, then we won't know. >2km shouldn't risk it.
Hi,
Anyone managed to get information on the distance range balloting for rgps?
Spoken to rgps admin, but she’s not disclosing any information.
Try to call again and tell them your distance and ask if you have chance, coz if no chance you want to register another school, hope they can understand -
I called the school. The staff shared that applications are still coming in, and that SC < 1km might have to ballot. Which means best for SCs (1-2 km) to apply elsewhere.

This is not Punggol or Sengkang. I highly doubt there are more than 76 SC < 1km. Most likely outcome is ballot between 1-2km

Unfortunately, this is an outlier year. Vacancies lower than usual, and applicants more than usual. Many new citizens have bought/rented homes within 1 km aiming for this school.

From what I've heard, there were already 60+ SCs (within 1 km) by Day 2. So even if it's SC (1-2 km), it's another 60 or more applicants balloting for the remaining 10 vacancies. The odds are not worth risking. -

this is from 2018 registration, Dragon year, is likely possible to hit more than 70 this year as well.

https://postimg.cc/0zQXDMDR
I also do agree that this is an outlier year, very different from past historical data. Much lesser vacancies in 2C with much higher no. of applicants.
Will the applicants be notified that a balloting for his distance is required before the announcement of results on 17 Aug? -

Be mindful of unsubstantiated rumors. Sometimes, people are just trying to throw you off the scent and discourage you from applying so that they themselves can have a higher chance. IIRC, within 1km of RGPS, mostly low density housing and there aren’t a lot of rental options (probably over at Shelford Road). Hence, the reason why RGPS rarely ballot within 1km - not that it isn’t popular but because so few eligible people live within that 1km radius. -

https://postimg.cc/0zQXDMDR
This year probably ends up similar to dragon year. It looks worse coz school having fewer vacancies available for 2C. any idea why is it? Unusual high taken rate in 1A or 2A? -
Vacancies for RGPS P1 registration 2020 is 270, same like last year. Seems more applicants in 2C.

Thanks for the advice phtthp. Unfortunately, I called to ask if there would be any balloting, and which distance range would it be, and they were not willing to divulge the information. :(
This is just ridiculous, must feedback to MOE or MP....what is the purpose of hiding the data and cause unnecessary stress to parents ..
Now, another far more impt question to ask is, instead of asking for detailed number break down by distance, which from this covid year onwards, no admin staff in any school going to disclose to parents is, to ask Rgps admin directly, specifically -phtthp\" post_id=\"1989153\" time=\"1596507933\" user_id=\"35251:
Called the school. The school is not sharing the distance breakdown for 2C. That'll make it difficult to make an informed decision on whether to apply for RGPS. If there's no chance at all or poor balloting odds, at least the parents can apply elsewhere instead for 2C. Unlike in previous years, when parents can visit the school to see the distance breakdown for themselves.
\"My daughter is SC, more than 2 km. May I know, which distance range is balloting now ? Is it SC (1 to 2 km) ? If Yes, then I must quickly withdraw, while I still got time. I need to know the answer, this is very important to me, because if i no chance to ballot, I must quickly go to another school now to apply, because I cannot avoid to waste my precious 2C chance. You don't give me the numbers break down , never mind. I can still accept. But I need to know, for SC more than 2 km, in or out, in terms of balloting chance? Please show empathy ! \"
All SC more than 2 km, be proactive, don't expect the school to call u up to withdraw
Because
In that last critical hour, last day of Phase 2C (3.30 pm to 4.30 pm closing time), anything can happen. You won't know, if there are a lot of applicants apply online within 1 km, or within 1 to 2 km, their distance range earlier before you. Also, during this last critical hour, it is impossible to expect Rgps admin to call you all up one by one, because they are very busy handling last minute registration. Thus, please be on your toes, stay alert during that last one hour action (3.30 pm to 4.30 pm), last day of 2C
=======================
Another important thing-
All (SC more than 2 km),
Please call the school after lunch, ask specifically :
which distance range, to ballot?
Because
if you call around that last adrenalin-rushing panic hour, last day 2C (3.45 pm to 4.30 pm), worried that
the school phone line may be engaged, cannot get through, because so many other parents are also dialling in, too
