Hi all , i am in a dillema


My daughter is born in 2015 and will be going rhru admission exercise next year

I was selected as a PV for mee toh school but due to covid 19 , the start date have been postpone until further notice (npt sure if any parents here are facing similar issues)

Currently i am living with 1km from the school but i am planning to move to a EC which is 1-2km away.

Will the above decision impact my chance in getting my daughter into the school ?

Does the school ballot the PV slot to me because of my proximity ?

I see in record that for Mee Toh school , phase 2B will not have ballot… i am quite mix up right now… can anyone help me ?

For 2B Mee Toh, there was once balloting needed in 2B, 2014, for >2km.

Of course the obvious is, if you stay, its very likely to be in at 2B. To shift to 1-2km, you have a buffer of 20 spots as of now, it may be closer fight next year, its hard to know the phase 1 numbers plus typical applicants in 2B is 50-60+. i always assume all sort of balloting in Punggol and Seng Kang to be done in within 1km due to the density of the area.

I do not think your decision will affect your chance of getting into the school, just that you don't feel safe.

What is important as well is your backup choice in 2C, most of the MK schools will be oversubscribed in 2C, if you are happy with the 2C choice (safe and you are fine with the choice), you will feel more grounded and know what to do.

1-2km no issue, SAJS 2B usually can get in. Apply and subject to shortlisting.

Just one will do.

Some schools will allow both parents to take turns. Check directly with the school.

Yes you can apply any number of schools.

Volunteer for 2 schools ? Unless you have so much free time or one of the spouse not working…is not easy…my wife and me did the volunteer work for a whole year…there are two categories - cat A and cat B - cat A is something you do regularly such as traffic warden…cat B is something you fight to get the opportunity…

Just focus PV on one school that you wish your child to enter. Both my wife and myself did the volunteer jobs assigned by the school…thankfully we got our child into the school after completing our PV.
