Hi all! Would anyone know if we could ring up the school to check on the stats on the last day (Friday)? Would schools have the stats? We would like to know the stats before making our final decision on which school to register in Phase 2CS.

Fri 21 aug is the last day, time till 4.30pm. The application process is ongoing till 4.30pm, so if you call up the school to check on the stats.

Firstly, the school is willing to disclose anot is an issue (nonetheless, can give it a try also since no harm calling).

Secondly, the online application might not have reach the school on time is another issue.

Just got balloted out of Fern Green <1km, first time required balloting at <1km for this sch.

Phase 2CS options left for me < 1km are Anchor Green (39 vacancies) and Fernvale (69 vacancies), but I presume these schools will receive the large overflow from Sengkang Green and Nan Chiau (more than 200 balloted out from these schools) and will require balloting at 2CS.

Any advice for my situation, really pissed that got balloted out despite just going for a neighbourhood sch closest to home.

1. Casuarina Primary (within 1km) - 9 slots
2. Park View (Outside 2km) - 30slots
3. Meridian (Outside 2km) - 147slots

Ideally, we would like to go for Casuarina as DD is top priority but will most likely end up balloting - which we try to avoid.

Thoughts is to go for ParkView (P2CS). Last 5 years 2019-2015 all showed no balloting required for P2CS. And the consolation prize is ParkView is strong in Volleyball.

Also, worst case scenario if DD did not go into ParkView, will MOE allocate the next nearest school in Pasir Ris to DD? in this case most likely to be Meridian which has many vacancies left.

Just on odds analysis:

Left over from Casuarina and Park view is not enough to absorb the over from Elias, Pasir ris and white sands.
Among the 48 from Pasir ris and 14 from white sand, some will be the same catchment as you (at most level with you). For Elias 14, they are more likely to be within 1km of Park view.

So if the school (park view) release the breakdown is good, if not you can est around 10-14 are within 1km and the rest at most on par with you. then you can compare the odds with causarina which will be within 1km. when you have the breakdown you can assess which one is better for you do go for.

Sorry to hear that. I remembered you forgo SMPS. Nothing to lose now - try for Casuarina and worse case scenario is MOE assigns you somewhere with available vacancies after 2CS. I would advise you also waitlist for PRP and EPP.

BTW, SACPS at Bedok isn’t really that far via PIE in the morning.

Firstly the MOE increased BTPS seats, reduced PR quota. Yet still after 2C there are lesser seats in BTPS than last year. At least 50+ SCs took 2C seats. And still there are likely to be double SC applicants in 2CS vs last year, as you say.

1. Total number of intake is lower this year than 2018. PHPPS dropped 46
2. Higher number of applicants in phase 1 and 2A1, perhaps due to the online way, ppl has the tendency to secure first. This is especially true for RGPS and PHPPS.
3. That left with a lower base in 2B and 2C to share. 2B applicants number actually quite on par with previous years. For 2C, there are many >1km parents applied for RGPS (some should be >2km), that really distorted the actual eligible number that reasonably should apply for this area.
4. Some has shifted that add to the number in NYPS and PHPPS, its a general for competitive year.

Overall the total applicant number increase by around 100 from 2018, if we take the distortion from RGPS, it should be generally explainable, that the latter phase lose out due to more people eligible and went for the priority route.

Yes, i have factored this 14 too based on the P2C results

Phase2C Unsuccessful applicants
Elias Park - 14
Whitesand - 11
Pasir Ris - 48
Total : 73

Just pray the unsuccessful applicants in the same catchment area all go for Casuarina instead of Parkview.

If want 100% guarantee can grab a school in Pasir Ris for Phase2CS - will be Meridian primary.
