What are the criteria for selecting students on waitlist - first come first served?
1. How does the waitlist work? Assuming ABC Is a Singapore citizen, lives outside 2km and is the first person on the waitlist for P1 at Queenstown primary school, will ABC get the next available spot if a student in P1 withdraws? If another student, PQR is also Singapore citizen within 1km but is the second person on the waitlist, will PQR have priority over ABC since PQR lives nearer to the school?

2. What if another student XYZ whose parent is in the alumni association or was a parent volunteer but got balloted out in the respective earlier phase 2A and 2B, and now XYZ is 3rd person on the school’s waitlist, does XYZ get priority over ABC and PQR?

Anyone have insights? :?: :?
Each school manages its own waitlist. And has full discretion to pick and choose whoever they want to offer any vacancy to. Not necessarily first come first served, not necessarily distance priority, not necessarily ex volunteers or alumni.

In other words, it’s all a big black hole after MOE closes the P1 registration process. Schools don’t need to tell you why they picked or didn’t pick so & so.

Would you know (or if anyone here knows) if I can still make ammendments to my p1-is application on Thursday night after the updated data surface OR if I can make another application hoping MOE will take my online form application as my latest application?

From FAQ

Can I make amendments after I have submitted my registration online on the Primary One Internet System (P1-IS)?
Answer:
If you have submitted your online application and wish to make an amendment of school choice during the same phase, you will need to withdraw your child on P1-IS. Thereafter, you may submit a new online application form within the same phase. The online form will be accessible during the respective registration phase.

In these situations, MOE will take your latest online application submitted during the stipulated registration period of the same registration phase.

We encourage all parents registering their child for the P1 registration exercise to discuss well ahead and decide on their primary school of choice before submitting the online registration. This is to avoid the need to make any withdrawals or amendments which may lead to delays or missing a registration phase and as a result not getting the school of your choice for your child.

Can I re-register for another school online after I have withdrawn my registration online using P1-IS?

Call MOE if you want a more direct answer.

Thank you @Lexy!
Being balloted out really makes one feel like a bad parent who did not do enough for our child. And to be put through another round of balloting is really traumatic especially when, for all the effort, it just boils down to \"luck\".

I guess we are all forced into a 'to risk or not to risk' business. I am just hoping if I risk it (and enter another balloting), even if unsuccessful and MOE place my child in an available school, I can transfer him into another available (but more preferred between the two available) school. Is this process possible?
I think you are not forced into a risk or not risk, i viewed it as a mouse trap, once you decided to go for NC, and if you fail, you will be directed to very narrow route and almost certain you will need to go for another round of balloting if you go with choice other than north spring or seng kang. It somehow become a 3 step plan if you didnt get through at NC.

i think you can contact moe to check if you are able to. Usually they allocate to the nearest.

Thanks zac's mum for your reply.

We intend to apply for wait list for Queenstown pri school a neighbourhood school which we did not apply as we are outside 2km. We are unsuccessful in our only 1km school Hpps in phase 2C. Meanwhile have applied for Pei Tong at phase 2CS.

Found the transfer application form at their website. Fill up once you get the SMS confirming your place at Pei Tong.

You may need to call/email QtPS to find out how to submit: https://queenstownpri.moe.edu.sg/qql/slot/u317/Information/Administration/Administration%20Forms/QtPS%20Pupils%20Admission%20Appln%20Form_v1.pdf

Anyone have insights? :?: :?
I suppose you are referring to waitlist for transfer to another primary school after P1 Registration is over.

Primary schools normally have a class size of maximum 30 for P1 and P2 (I think it's MOE policy) so unless there are parents who give up their confirmed places, it is unlikely there will be any vacancy until P3, where schools are allowed to have 30++ for each class.

I do know of a case where a student did not turn up since first day of P1. Around Term 2, a student from another school was transferred. This student was balloted out from earlier phase (parent volunteer).

For normal transfer (P3 and above), from my observation of popular primary schools, priority will usually be given for those students with very good academic and/or CCA achievements.

All the best to your child!
