Actually - I have a friend who is a secondary school teacher for a neighbourhood school (if that matters) - his school tried to change the timing to begin from 830 instead of the usual 730 starts - they tried it for one term and there were a surprisingly large minority of parents who still insisted on dropping off their kids at 630 in the morning!
Frankly, it’s a lot of people assumption that MOE doesn’t want the kid to wake up too early to travel to school. AFAIK MOE isn’t really bothered, and frankly, so are most people
With a 830 start - the school gates would only be opened at 715 - so for the first two weeks, there were quite a few kids who were just stuck outside the school gates for 45 mins to an hour!
I think MOE would like to change it, but they have to balance it with the vox populi (voice of the people) - otherwise you get all the \"those ministars in their white tower don't know what is happening on the ground\" type of rubbish comments.
You cannot underestimate the selfishness of people. -

Angsana - 184 vacancy, 46 applicants
Changkat - 78, 20
East Spring - 50, 23
If you are balloted out in Phase 2CS, more than enough places in one of these schools to absorb. Problem is parents all wanna go for the same schools. -

You can actually check from the moe website, filter out by the area, the numbers from 26 Aug is still there now.
