        Hi all,

There are a lot of enrichment centers offering last lap revision for PSLE such as Mind Stretcher etc. Anyone been through? Is it useful for the P6 kids?
IMHO. Last lap is useful if your child is already quite proficient in that subject and you only want a general revision. Besides the costs, it’s also time consuming. We are close to PSLE, and that one week hol is precious for revision without lots of homework from school. If your child attends last lap, he might not have a lot of time left to focus on the areas that he is weak in.

But if the topics or sections that are covered in last lap suits your child’s area of weakness or you need help to supervise an unmotivated child, then it might be useful.

If your son has the keywords in the answer yet awarded no marks then is this a conceptual and application issue? What we did previously was to pore through all the topics, identify key concepts and where application is likely and mark those concepts with keyword answers. Instead of doing more papers, we pore through guidebooks more and beef up on theory too. You might think its too late etc but there's only a few big topics that often come up in paper 2. Zoom into those if really no time. We spent like few weeks to pore through the entire syllabus. Now with no adaptation, a big segment is gone too.

How do you improve sci Mcq? Is it concept that need to strengthen? I don’t think it’s just careless mistakes but just dunno How to improve. Any suggestions? OE not much problem so she is aware of the skills and how to answer.

I find MCQ mainly testing facts and there may be one or two thinking questions only. Make sure the theory is intact and exceptions to norms are noted (eg which mammal does not give birth to young or which aquatic animals are not fish) etc

Science MCQ can have some tricky questions. One tip is to eliminate those choices that are obviously wrong. Usually 2 of them…then left with 2 closer ones, examine carefully to find the correct one. If can’t find correct one then eliminate the least likely choice & pick the last one standing.

But ya, usually if concept is strong then MCQ no problem. Maybe need to double check her graph/data reading & interpretation skills are ok, otherwise need to strengthen.

                        Hi,

My child scored a low 80s for her English Paper 2. Does it make sense to memorize the phrasal verbs/collocation/idioms etc? Or is it better to do school papers? Her weakest is Compre Open Ended cos she doesn’t read properly and can’t phrase the right way /doesn’t know how to ans…

                        Thanks!
