[Seng Kang] Primary Schools

Orientation is usually in November. Possibly in 3 months’ time there will be zero community cases already. So hopefully the kids can have face-to-face Orientation. Maybe limit to class-based max 30 or smaller groups, maybe no parents allowed in. My guess.

Hope your guess is somewhat right here and there cos I dont like the whole idea of e-orientation.

recently,
for Upper primary school students who have sat for TA3 (Term 3 Assessment) tests in July, after students got back their answer script, for schools that arranged special PMT (Parents Meet Tr) meet-up session, even parents met their children subject Teachers and class Form Tr online (virtual), via Zoom technology. Parents are not allowed to meet school Teachers face to face, because of asymtomatic covid risk.
Hence,
unlikely that there will be a face to face P1 orientation, for K2 students entering 2021 Primary 1
Also,
During year end Nov/Dec school holidays, normally parents go back to school book-shop to buy new books, for their children, to start a new academic year.
This year, due to covid, to prevent a huge crowd of parents gathering to buy books or buy school uniform, at the primary school premises, and also to prevent a huge group of students (assorted P1 to P6 level) to try on different Uniform or try different PE shorts or PE Tshirt different sizes, most probably schools will just ask parents to buy books directly from Popular bookshop on their own -

Virtual orientation has been done, for NUS students. I saw an article about a student’s experience here: https://www.todayonline.com/commentary/i-thought-virtual-school-orientation-would-be-horrible-how-wrong-was-i

However, this works for Uni students. Maybe even Secondary school students. It won’t work for Primary school students. The most important thing for them to feel settled into their new school is the F2F tour of the school and meeting their teacher/classmates in person. If not possible in November-December, then the kids will probably just have to be dropped off straight on 4th Jan 2021 outside the school (with all the separation anxiety I suppose) And then the teachers will have to deal with the pacifying & crash course orientation at their end.
The buying of uniforms & textbooks, actually can buy online. -
Hi Parents,
I’m newbie here.
I can’t find Parent Volunteer page in Nan Chiau, is it mean there is no such program require in the school?
Staying within 1-2km, do i stand any chances? Elder one born in 2016, I hope i am not late for it. -

1-2km slim chance, sometimes no chance.

Most probably no chance but it’s a moot point. PV is performed / joined via SHHK clan and it’s already too late for 2022 registration. You would not fulfill the 2 year requirement by 30 June 2022.

Since no chance in Nan Chiau - I just move on.
Any review about SK Green Pri / Fernvale Pri? -

SK Green is the more popular of the two. Ballots under 1km. If you also live within 1km of Fernvale Pri, it would be a good back up for Phase 2CS.

Hi All,
Would like to see your kind advise please.
1. Enrolment for p1 2022
2. Less than 1km
3. Phase 2c only
Can i have your opinion on the possibility of entering compassvale or springdale?
Which would be recommended?
Thank you in advance.
