Congrats to those parents whose kids got CO into SST!

Would u mind sharing what attracts your child to choose SST over a mainstream O level school?
The uniform is quite nice 😂
Yes nice colours. Is it dri-fit material by the way?

Has anyone done a comparison before, whether any other O level schools also have ~25 class size?
They had increased the no of intake, this year S1 29 per class.

Thanks. Which makes it somewhat less attractive now.

Any progress on the 6-year IP plans? I think that’s a main bugbear of potential parents (having to sit for O levels).

For a child scoring in the 220-240 range, hands-on Science-oriented, there’s a dilemma whether to just go for the affiliated O level school or to try SST, especially if the class size (previous selling point) has increased.

Another oof; sst applied learning approach/curriculum includes mentorships, internships, work attachments and exchange programmes involving local n overseas tertiary institutions and industrial partners. With current pandemic, how many projects had been cancelled, postponed or moved online? For how long, one year, two years, three years or till effective vaccine is available? Guess many uni also facing this😞

I beg to defer from the view of having a slight increase in number per class means that it has become less attractive. As a parent of SST, I viewed it as a holistic learning experience for my child. The average class size although has increased but in general, the number per class size is still relatively manageable and comfortable I must say. And the good news is there are more girls per cohort for last year. So it is a good news for many parents who has the impression that the ratio of boys to girls is much lower for girls.

Just my thought as a parent of SST.

‘We cannot increase our enrolment because we promised parents that class size will be kept to between 20 and 25 students. We feel that a small class size is best for the hands-on learning that we want to achieve.' said the then Principal Chua Chor Huat.

Note, the school also has a second insertion point at S3 for about 50 students.

If SST going to by pass O level, turn into a 6 year IP A-level programme, is going to be even hotter, in greater demand ! SST in-house unique designed curriculum journey is practical, very much alive especially In this turbulent era. Good news, hurray!

How we wish, skip another national exam! Unlikely it would materialise, just like the promised small class size?😞

unlikely to be your batch (born 2008) of implementation, where SST going to introduce the IP style, all the way to Pre-u 2.

However, one reason why SST is so popular, with many students on the Wait-list, even with the compulsory O-level exam intact, is because of the many practical, useful, versatile hands-on projects and experiments that the keen students get exposure in, which already forming part of the IP style of learning and observation, interpreting & absorbing information, theory, etc. Hence, turning it into IP (A-level), is not surprising.

                    Going forward,
even if SST were to introduce the IP (A-level), there must still remain the flexibility and the leeway of providing students the option, to take O-level National exam, because there will always be some students, who prefer to choose Polytechnic route ultimately instead of A-level, because Polytechnic suits them better. This O-level exam gateway, should remain intact, not be removed, even if SST were to become converted into IP (A-level)
