Can someone remind me. To take advanced math or advanced science in Sec3, is the criteria set at min 85 marks on average? I thought that was for eligibility into the SMTP?

To take advanced maths, need 85% in Sec 2 Integrated Maths, pass selection test, teacher's recommendation. Bonus if good performance in SMO, AMC.

For Advanced sciences, additionally need to have MSG 1.5 or less.
For SMTP: Students who offer 2 Advanced Sciences or 1 Advanced Science and Advanced Mathematics will be considered for this programme. Students must pass the selection tests and interviews for the Advanced Science and/or Advanced Mathematics. -

May I know for year 1 students, is it advisable to keep their P6 Maths & Science worksheets and notes from enrichment centre ? I am thinking whether to keep them or dispose them after PSLE exams. Any advice ?

Hi! I’m a S2 student and I would say that based on my experience last year, usually Secondary 1 students wouldn’t really need their P6 Math and Science worksheets, as the content taught is quite different (i.e. no modelling, new topics that are totally different being taught).

Hi Swc,
Anyone's DD in HSSRP? Would like to know if receive invite for this programme, do the girls still have to go through another round of selection test? How heavy is the time commitment?
My dd is in HSSRP this year. If your dd receive invitation for this programme, she can choose to accept or reject it. However, once you accept the invitation, get prepared for the full commitment to this programme. The girls will have to submit her research proposal to MOE, and the final selection is from the expert-mentor. And yes, it is super heavy time commitment to be in this programme. Most of the time, the deadline is short, and crashes with school's graded tests and assignments due date. The time is mostly spend on reading, researching the things and keep on amending and amending that your expert-mentor wanted you to work on. Expert-mentor can keep changing the directions of research, and get prepare to work with minimum guidance but high expectations. Although the girls will also attached with school's teacher-mentor, but the expert-mentor have the final say. It is not straight forward research paper, and need a lot of perseverance to be in this programme. My dd just submitted her final paper 2 weeks ago, and the last event is the symposium which is on 31 Oct.
