Does anyone have the link to find the primary school rankings for 2019?
There is NO ranking whatsoever, for

      - primary schools,

      - nor for Secondary schools,

      - nor for Junior Colleges,

      because

the very first, basic fundamental question to ask you, is -

on what COMMON standardized qualifying criteria or common ground or measuring yardstick or
      on what basis,
are you going to rank all these schools and

be able to come to a definite drawn conclusion

that this school is far better or much lousier, than another primary school ? Better or lousier, in terms of what ?

      And

What is the objective and purpose behind, ranking these schools ?

For primary schools, Total, there are more than 100+ primary schools in Singapore.

      So,
does it mean that if say, a school X is being ranked the very last school, out of entire Singapore, out of more than 100+ schools, does it imply or mean that -
All students studying inside this last school X, are bound to graduate out of Primary 6, as losers in society, to be scorned by or looked down upon by society, such that once you tell people that you are from this primary school, your friends or neighbours or colleagues will comment like \"Aiyoh, you come from school X .... if is me, i will siam this school, wont let my kid study school X .... \"

Imagine, if a child is studying in this last school X, How would the parents and their children feel, everyday going to school X ? Won't they feel lousy ?
Would you want to put your child into such a school, if let's say during balloting child gets balloted out of the better school and MOE post the child to this very last ranked school X ?

      In conclusion,
All this ranking is going to demoralize and have psychological effect on pupils who got posted to the lousy ranked school X. This is going to have a damaging effect to them, in the long run.

      In sharp contrast,
If say, students studying inside another primary school Y, ranked #1 Top school in entire Singapore,
      does it mean that
you want them to grow up arrogantly, proud like a peacock, high and mighty,
just because they are studying inside a #1 ranked primary school, top of the list?

You want to send your child to such school, growing up like that, high and mighty, breeding arrogance and contempt, looking down on other children who are slow learners, never know or understood what is the meaning of humility ?

So, you still want to rank the schools ?

      =========================

      Actually, what is your problem?
Cannot decide between Fairfield Methodist primary or St Margaret primary ?

Because you have been asking the same old question, in a few different thread already. Yes, in different thread, you may have phrased your question differently. But, one read by many of us here, would sense right away that essentially, you are asking the same old basic question.

      Solution is there.
Just give a call to St Margaret primary school's Vice Principal, ask her all your burning questions or any concern that you have. Prepare a long list of questions first, before start calling her, because we assume that you are well versed with Fairfield, already. What you need is a \"compare and contrast\" situation, meaning that

suppose Fairfield have this, this, this, that, that, that. (apart from the presence of boys)
      How about St Margaret ?
Does St Margaret also have, what Fairfield already have

      Or

St Margaret don't have, but Fairfield have ?

      Or

St Margaret have, but Fairfield don't have ?

And on a piece of paper in front of you, draw two vertical column, whenever you are in a dilemma choosing schools

      Left hand side :
a list of what Fairfield have, or can offer

      Right hand side :
write down a list of what St Margaret have, or can offer

      Then,
      on a scale of (1 to 10),
For each of the \" have\" in St Margaret,

      And

For each of the \"have\" in Fairfield, rank them yourself,
      evaluate,
how important is it to you and your child ?

      Ranking : 1,
means critical, very important, must have

      Ranking : 10,
means the least important to you. Don't have, also never mind

VP (St Margaret) should be able to address all your questions and from there, can make your own decision.

As for own alma mater Fairfield, can also visit back your own school, touch base and update yourself with the latest, most recent happening and events what's going on lately. Since Fairfield is your own former school or may be your spouse ex school, should be easier to find out info internally, from within.

        Appreciate your lengthy reply.
I was reading thru the forum and found rankings in the form of T-scores contributed by kind parents here. But some schools were not up to date. Hence my question if there are any updated rankings info since it is already present within the forum.

I do not feel one school is superior to the other. But the fact of the matter is that there are schools which are more, I’d put it as sought after, than the rest. Which is why this forum or thread comes about, to enable parents to compare and discuss. I have looked thru quite alot of information between the 2 schools and have been stuck at the cross road for some time. I’ve been posting on this topic mainly and checking with parents at the st margaret topic as parents there have children inside the school.

The main difference between the school, apart from one being co-ed and the other being a girls school, is the subjects taught and the CCA. I guess the main thing for me boils down to how children in St Margaret Pri are doing and what the teaching environment is like. These are some things I cannot ask the VP (and since they do not have open house), hence I can only check with parents here for a more realistic point of view. The reason I am asking for the ranking or scoring is because I want to compare the difference in subject and studying environment and gauge which is better for my child. It also tells me about the quality of the teaching staff.

For me, there aren’t too many things that I have to consider that I have to write on a piece of paper but thanks for the suggestion 🙂

          Hello all,

We are in dilemma of selecting primary school for our SG50 girl. We are intending to shift to Toa Payoh cause it is nearer to my mother’s place. In terms of environment and academically, which one do you think we should try under 2C?

          1. Pei Chun under 0-1km
          2. Kheng Cheng under 0-1km
          3. CHIJ TPY under 2 km
          4. St Margaret under 2km (using my mother’s address)

Thank you and have a pleasant day!

For me, if is my K2 daughter entering Primary 1, and in your shoes staying Toa Payoh area -

CHIJ Toa Payoh primary will be my first choice, provided no balloting required. I will also consider CHIJ Nativity or CHIJ OLGC (small school, but ok)

My second choice is either Pei Chun or Kheng Cheng, either one also good.

Thank you for the advise and info!

I am not that concerned about her JC education should she choose to go that route. Whether she is able to is a matter in the future by which time, she should be able to take transport herself. 🙂

I am wondering the difference in culture, performance and overall of between the 2 schools.

Which would be better? Since I came from Fairfield, I know how it is over there. But I have not heard much about St Margaret.
                  Zenz79,

Send your daughter back to your alma mater Fairfield primary

This year I see most of the primary schools are either conducting virtual open house, or they have posted videos of school tours and staff/students speaking about their school.

Townsville has this on their website, I think you can find out quite a bit about the school thru these videos:

                        Hello everyone.

I have been a silent reader for quite some time already and as this P1 Registration is stressing me up big time, I decided to post my situation and request for some expert opinions.

My child will register for P1 in 2021. I am eligible for Phase 2B at Nan Chiau Primary, however the biggest problem is I am living 1-2 km away. I read the past year statistics and it seems like the chances is almost zero which is very sad.
Looks like I will have to think hard for Phase 2C. The schools within 1km of where I am staying are
                        1. Mee Toh Primary
                        2. Horizon Primary
                        3. Punggol View Primary
                        4. Punggol Green Primary
                        5. Valour Primary

Can I seek for expert advise on choosing which school for Phase 2C?
Of cos I hope that my child can get into Mee Toh or Horizon. But I am not sure what is the risk assessment like.
It feel like this P1 registration is a game of luck…

Also, any advise on my situation? or what strategy will you take?

                        Thank you
