the caning is a stand-alone case where the student brought cards to school. i sent all my 3kids to horizon. to me, if kids obey school rules, there is no fear to face the VP. and yes the VP is still around.

Wa Lao, I did not know bringing cards to school is such a serious offense that canning need to be exerted. It was too extreme!! Hope that VP is mentally sound. If I were that boy’s parent, I will confirm sue that VP! He is fortunate to be in a neighbourhood school where maybe parents are more forgiving.

if bring cards to school and teach fellow students to bet or to gamble; then it is serious matter.

But if no gambling involved, then just confiscate the cards, issue stern warning

If the boy has older siblings, it’s not uncommon to have poker cards (gin rummy cards), besides UNO, at home. Moreover when one travels, it’s not uncommon parents bring back complimentary airline poker cards too. Some families play mahjong during CNY as a form of family bonding. All these nothing wrong if one doesn’t indulge in addictive gambling. Even the govt goes the extra mile to legalise casinos and introduced online 4D betting. Can a pr5 boy not be confused ?

The teacher (and principal) could have confiscated the cards, inform the patent, and used it as a ‘teachable moment’ to inculcate correct values during assembly. The child would have gone home grateful . Instead the school took the easy way out to scar the student, possibly imbuing a feeling of ‘hate’ on the school and the educators.

The cane didn’t land on the butt; it landed way below the butt and sideways. Indicating it was deliberate and forceful. I wonder what was going through in his mind.

Hi All...just wanted to check if you all noticed the sudden drop in this \"unofficial\" ranking of Pri schs for Horizon from 70 to 180 last year.
Looks like the remaining places after Phase 2B seem to be increasing.... One reason could be newer schs and distribution of the students. Not sure why else the ranking can drop so drastically

ranking based on remaining places doesn't mean anything much, and it's volatile and misleading, IMO

Can I know if anyone received their GEP results? My friends from other schools had received theirs.
