Asking for a friend - if 2 foundation and 2 standard subjects ,
is it possible to get into express ?
There are some Sec schools where No need Tscore 200 , can still get into Express stream. You can Google SIS that dream Sec school of yours, see what is the below 200 Tscore lowest minimum, can enter Express stream

Psle is over. Discuss with your child, what range of Tscore does he or she think she likely to get? Did he do better in Psle, compared to his (her) prelim ?

Then, get your child to add up his Total potential Tscore. If manage to fall within that Express range lowest cut off entry point of his dream school, assuming he did very very well in his 2 Foundation subjects, like 90+ above (upon 100), plus his two other Standard subjects also done well, potentially still can go for Express stream.

          Thanks phtthp and zac’s mum,

Will show her the link . She recently heard that with 2 foundation subject it’s hard to get sufficient marks to do expresss in sec school. Her DS just took PSLE so is under the t score system

T score system should be even easier to use the stronger subjects to pull up the weaker subjects.

              Hi yes.

I know of someone who did 3F1S and managed to get Normal acad/Express.

Hi P6 parents, just wondering, is there a practical exam segment for PSLE Science?

I seem to recall some schools conduct practical exams for Science in upper primary. Stuff like using a measuring cylinder and water to calculate the mass of a small stone. Or observing a leaf, drawing it and describing its characteristics.

As far as I'm aware, no. Still just the written paper comprised of MCQ and OE sections.

My younger one's school does have practical exam as part of WAs for P3 and P4 (not sure on upper primary as the two kids are in different schools). Have only seen 1 SA2 thus far and that was the same MCQ/OE sections.

No practical exam but there will be questions on experiments. Students have to be able to recognise the experiments and answer questions pertaining to those experiments.

For primary schools' PSLE National exam,
don't conduct any Practical laboratory hands-on experimental session (Paper 3).
                      But in Secondary schools,
                      Yes, we do.

PSLE only conduct Theory papers : (Paper 1 mcq and Paper 2 OE). But No Practical Paper 3.

                      However,
inside your PSLE Paper 2 Science OE, it is possible
to set or turn a lab-session experiment question into an OE question,
just like the example you have illustrated, about how to measure density.

                      ===========================

                      In primary schools SA1 (mid-year) and SA2 (year-end) exam,
some schools (not all schools, though) do conduct some hands-on work, called Science \"Performance Task\" tests.
These tests may or may not be conducted inside a lab premises physically. Some primary schools do conduct such tests, hence apportion a certain weightage percentage, towards the overall Science Assessment paper.
