      Hi Ganjiongspider,

I personally think one polite way to do this is to drop the teacher an email, to leave your phone number and to request her to call you back at her convenience. This will not impose any trouble on the teacher. You can then politely relay your concerns over the phone and seek her advice as to how girls will generally progress in the subject in Sec 4, particularly as there are requirements to fulfil to read 4H2s in HCJC. There are also individual subject requirements for Science H2s.

In HCI, for the Sciences,s the teachers have conveyed that most boys will do better in Sec 4 than Sec 3, if they continue at the same pace / work as hard. They kind of get the hang of it and get better as time progresses.

I've personally not emailed any teacher in HCI yet. The only teacher I have emailed since my kids entered secondary school is my daughter's Math teacher (she is not in NYGH).
      Hi doodbug,

Thanks for your advice. Will consider that if need further clarification from the teacher. I believe Sec 3 is also 1 big jump from Sec 2, since it is more content based, and the kind of questions asked in the past EOY papers were more chim than lower sec. Like what you say, technically Sec 4 should be able to do better as they get the hang of it as time progressed bah... :xedfingers:

Gotten my sec 2 and 4 girls results. So far so good.
About the sec 3 chem, it was disastrous last year too for the sec 3 cohort so do not need to overly worry.

Good job to both your gals!

Thanks hope your girl did well too.

Is it true that this year's Chemistry EOY for the Sec 3 cohort average is D7? Anybody knows various subjects' results for the Sec 3 cohort? Thanks.

What matters should be her own grade, as long as she’s not the D7 😄
And ya, I wont bother the teachers unless it’s urgent or has big impact.

Hah. True true. The thing is we usually are concerned if our dd's results are below or above cohort average..; ya...usually unless my dd hit the bottom, if not I will not make emergency call for rescue..

Is Chemistry the only subject to face such disastrous results in sec 3? What about other subjects?

Sec 3 performance maybe slightly lower than Sec 4 but D7 is a little unbelievable.
Wow, is your dd in Advanced Chem class? 80% of her class getting A1 is amazing. How I wish my dd can score at least A2 for this subject. She's always in the range of B3 - B4. Dd said her Chem teacher told the class that Sec 3 average grade is D7, wonder she heard wrongly or not. Dd was so pissed off when I asked her twice:\"Are you sure you heard correctly? D7 huh?\"[/quote]
Dd is in triple sci class and only 3 girls taking Adv Math. Majority of her class didn’t do as well last year for a few subjects including Chem, HCL, LA and IH. I think is normal. Come to Sec 4 they progress well, especially in IH, the cohort average is A1 this year.

Does anyone know any good IP Integrated Mathematics (Sec 3-4) tuition and can recommend any? Am looking for one next year.

I supposed Sec 4 is the important year to \"chiong\" for promotion to JC, so everybody works hard too. Good effort to the Sec 4s this year!
