      Every year for maths
      P5 SA1 not easy
      P5 SA2 very easy
      P6 CA1, SA1 & prelim not easy[/quote]
There is a reason for that. For SA1, more questions are set by school and less from MOE question bank.
While in SA2, it is the opposite.

Since there is no more SA1 for P5, I would presume that SA2 will now be as challenging.

        Hi,

Can anyone advise if a drop of marks from 90.plus to 70 plus is normal?

        My boy results
        El -81/100
        Maths-78/100
        Science-76/100

I kept reading its suppose to drop and its normal but I saw and heard some kids are.able to score 90 plus for their latest p5 sa2 and am wondering if 20 marks drop is really normal after all...

Also, any kind parents can recommend any good writing class for English?
Any comments on Wow and Tas?

        Please advise
        ..
Usually the drop is in SA1 and then by SA2 will climb back to about the same level as before. Even if drop, should not be more than 5%. Given that your child dropped by close to 20 marks, it might indicate that there is some conceptual weakness for certain topics. Need to quickly identify and strengthen those concepts this coming holidays.

KKmama, then you are somewhat overly worry. Don’t be. Your child language quite alright. As for Maths, just find out where is she weak at? Concept issue? Or time management issue? Science, that is usually an average score (I think) and not very alarming at all. Perhaps just re-revise those topics.

Thank you laughingcat… yr words really comforted me. I was terribly worried when the teacher told me 20 marks drop for a subject is not very ok and I happen to see another parent posting to thank her child’s tutor that her child has full marks in maths and all other subjects are high 90s. That really got me very worried as I have no idea how the average kids will normally fare in their p5 exams…

Its better to compare effort rather than comparing marks. As long as your child is trying his or her best, then the result doesnt matter. However if your child is spending too much time on digital devices or games, then you may consider to put a stop to that.

My boy is into roblox. I give him half an hour to play everyday but I feel that even after henfiniab playing, he still is in a dreamy state when revising until I flare up. But was thinking half an hour is already minimal and everyday when he comes home from sch, he already doesn’t have much time for other leisure, the only thing to have him enjoy a bit if what he does it play roblox for half an hour but if I also take away, he sure will grumble like mad

All children are like this. They must have game time yeah. Sometime totally prevent them from playing mobile games can have detrimental effect. They may find that they no longer "have a life". You know the feeling can be exaggerate to us adult but to them it is like their world. 30min of game time is rather reasonable, I would say. I would consider as a motivation factor. Just remind your boy to do his best and don’t slip. Find ways to bridge the gap.
