Hi. I’m hoping to get some info on choosing a school for my child next year (P4 GEP). Does anyone hv any feedback on St Hilda’s GEP Programme to share. Tx
My boy just transferred to SHPS last year under GEP too. The class size is small, just 18 GEP students. I would say he enjoyed a lot.

Hi, may I know why P4 still has to be reallocated into new class in P5? These kids have just spent a year together only, barely know each other.

I guess the school prefers to group students by similar attributes / learning abilities into a smaller groups.

Than to make life in school more sociable.

GE kids are smart. But some may not have social skills. So to change class after 1 year, it can teach them how to mingle and work with other classmates. If keep them in the same class throughout the programme, they will just stick with the same classmates when comes to group work. Not very beneficial on learning teamwork. You cannot choose who to work with as you grow older.

Even mainstream students change class and have to face new classmates yearly. No diff.

Friend’s gep son was put in such a “blended class” last year. Those selected MS kids in such blended class appear to be 绿叶 to 衬托 GEP 红花. MOE’s objective is likely meant to facilitate the GEP kids’ continued interaction with MS kids so that they don’t grow too distanced from normal kids.

Not sure how effective the measure will be but must applaud the good effort by MOE. I only know from my personal experience that girls from MS and GEP classes seemed to dislike one another. There was once when a GEP class won a basketball competition, the MS girls cried foul, claiming that teachers were biased in favour of geppers, causing a gep girl to cry. I think girls are more sensitive than anything else as my friend’s son in a mixed school didn’t have anything similar. DD2 has since moved on to NYGH and commented that there’s no such problem now.

Thanks for sharing. I do agree. Guess in any place even within the mainstream, there will be some people who felt left out. Actually even many years ago, they started to mingle the kids on some non core subjects ..its really a lot of effort. So i guess those MS students selected must be mostly those who pass first round at least to 衬托?😅
