Discussed about school choices with DD and husband, read through tons of forum posts and surfed many schools' websites. Want to run this through with all of you experts her. ( She is my eldest child and I am quite out of touch with all these IP/IB etc thing.)

Score 259+2. We live in Bukit Timah. DD prefers girl school but willing to go co-ed if needs to. No preference in CCA.

      List of school
      1. RGS ( just hope for the best? but I know the chance is not high.)
      2. NYGH ( again no harm trying right?)
      3. MGS IB ( Should be able to get in? this IB thing is new to us so spent the whole day researching )
      4. NJC ( the only Co-ed school, DD a bit reluctant. or should I take NJC out from the list and put another girl school?)
      5. SCGS ( Girl school, near our house)
      6. Cresent ( the safety net.)

      Appreciate any comments or suggestions!
Yes I would also remove NJC. Think among students they hear about stuff so the reluctance may come from that. Among your list NJC is the most ordinary to me. Your list is based on COP. But in the list there are already questions about IP, IB, A, diversity, HCL, affiliation and even 2 generation affiliation!

(ii) Was she in an all-girls primary school? (just curious why she's reluctant to try co-ed school) My DD went from a co-ed pri sch to an all-girls sec sch, and it seems that having boys around do help balance the \"bitchy/gossipy\" environment a bit.
My daughter went from co-ed Pr school to all-girls sec school, and she enjoyed the all-girls environment. Especially in their teen years, they could enjoy the time and space without the complication of boys! Also, my daughter used to get very irritated by the way some teachers divided activities etc into \"boys\" and \"girls\" things - like \"I need some strong boys to move this\" or \"I need a few girls to tidy this area\". In an all-girls school, girls do everything! Then when they go to co-ed school in JC, they appreciate being able to leave the heavy stuff to the guys (even though they know they can do it just as well).
[I was from an all-girls school, Pr & Sec.]

Hello, I have a mark of 240. Is applying to Swiss Cottage Secondary with a cop of 242 a big risk? Are there any chances I’ll get accepted?

            Hi,

My son psle score is 240. I am looking for schools in East. Here are my options but not in order of COP rather on preference :

            1) Ngee Ann Secondary
            2) Temasek Secondary
            3) Dunman Secondary
            4) Pasir Ris Crest Secondary
            5) Tanjong Katong Secondary
            6) I am not sure for the 6th option.

Can share your opinion on the schools I and my son have chosen. Could you also give your advice for the 6th option. Thank you 🕺

Hello Parents! Yesterday, I had a Sec 1 Posting briefing at my daughters school . The parents were reminded to not choose a school with higher cop than your score. Let’s say you would like to get into RGS but is one point lower than the cop , don’t waste your options because there’s no chance that you would be able to get in!

I am really really shy to post here as everyone got such good grades. My ds got aggregate that can either go Express or NA. How should we choose?

Really? I asked my teacher on Ed about this. She said that the chance will be lower , but there is still a chance. In fact, few of new former students attempted it and got into the secondary school which had a higher cop. But then again, the chance is not “confirmed”. Every year’s cop differs slightly , depending on the cohort which applies to the school.

Dun hold your breath for it to happen but no harm putting it as your 1st choice. You have 5 other choices that help provide safety net.

Not true. The COP was last year's result. You will never know whether it will go up or down. One classic example was 2018 PSLE NYGH COP 258, dropped 6 points. Of course it was a very extreme case but COP drop one or two points is normal. You have 6 choices so if your dream school COP last year is one point higher than your T score, go for it.
