      Hi All,

My daughter scored very low in Science and failed in Geography. Teacher advised to make her to head start bit earlier so that she could cope good for Secondary 2. If anyone could share the Secondary 2 Express notes of Science, I can buy from you.

      Thank you

I asked her. She wasn't sure too.
But, she said IP learnt upper secondary Geography, Science could be same.

              Dear parents/students of Cedar,

my child has obtained 249 and even though she is at the borderline of the cutoff point, we are considering for the ‘O’ level program of Cedar. We have some concerns and your input will greatly help us to make the decision.
Assuming she is lucky to get into the school of her choice:
Since she is at the borderline for last year’s cutoff point, we worry that she is not as academically strong when compared to her peers who entered the school with higher tscores, hence, making it more pressurized for her to perform. Any insights on my thought?
I also understand that at Sec 3 they will be split into different classes based on the combinations given. Is it true that those who are taking the combined science will be at a disadvantage when they select JC?

Cedar Girls Sec is a dual-track IP school.

                As such,
                being a dual-track IP school,
nobody offer any Sec 3 Combined Science subject combination.

At end of Sec 2 streaming, students in the O-level track can choose

                - Double Pure Sciences + Double Humanities

                Or

                - Triple Pure Sciences + Single Humanities

There is No Combined Science offered, inside Cedar

2019 Psle batch (born 2007 piggies)

                Cut-off-point (O-level track ) : 249

                with median: 251

Once your daughter start Sec 1, nobody will ask her for her past Tscore anymore, because everybody start afresh, from the same common starting point.

A lot, will depend on her own learning attitude, plus her ownership of responsibility in her own learning journey. If a student know how to set her own goals & objective in life, even if she enter Cedar at the admission Cut-off-point, 4 years later, she can graduate from Cedar being one of the Top O-level graduates. So, don't let this border-line \"249\" Tscore \"freeze\" you mentally. This Psle Tscore is only a snapshot, captured at a certain moment only. It doesn't define your daughter at all.

All the best, to a good starting learning journey in Cedar

phtthp , thank you for the encouraging reply!

We love the culture of Cedar and it has always been our first choice.

She is disappointed with her results as she had expected much higher. However, we have throughout the years, seen the tremendous effort put in by her and she definitely has the right learning attitude. However, sometimes it seems that no matter how hard she studied, her standard is as such. We are only worried that everyone’s abilities has its limit and do not want to put her in unnecessary stress.

IMHO, hard for Cedar's COP to come down to 246. But you never know, so my advise is to just try. But do put other schools that your DD meets the COP of as a safety net. All the best and congrats on the great PSLE score :rahrah:

                        :congrats:

2020 COP for Cedar O-Level Programme is 249. I think the lowest it has gone down in recent years is 248 in 2014. You have 6 choices so no harm putting Cedar. Just make sure your 5th and 6th choices are very safe.

All the best to your gal. :rahrah:
