I am asking for my DD’s friend. The girl should be in 240-255 range but got only 229 in the end. May I have some advice on her choice of Sec schools please? We are staying at Bukit Batok. Thanks. -

I've seen quite a few ACS o levels switched to IB at yr 3. Most of them had missed Yr 1 IB narrowly. Also they did consistently well in yr1 and y2. -
All the Y2019 P6 approximately close to 43,000 candidates Tscore have trailing decimal points, not just whole number only.
These are all stored inside MOE computer database.
However,
when you receive your Psle certificate, MOE only print out the whole-number Tscore figure only, without any trailing decimal points behind. -

Before reaching a school's COP, there is no need to use decimal places as the vacancies are more than the applicants. When the point comes close to COP (the lowest point), the remaining vacancies might be less than the applicants who has the same T-Score apply for that school, say 259 last year for RI.
I think some minister (or maybe the PM himself) announced a minor change last year. The posting system definitely still uses decimal places of the T-score to post the student to his/her school, except in the case of the last available vacancy. This is only my guess, for sharing.[/quote]Sorry, but got to disagree. We know firsthand of a recent case. Local nationality and T-score exactly at the cut-off of stream A (Choice 1 in ranked order). She was placed into stream B instead (Choice 2 in ranked order). -

Easier to score, to enter university certain faculty ? -

Hi, there is no such thing as \"last class\" in RI. Other than the GEP students who are placed in GEP classes, all the other students are mixed. Those who entered via DSA are also evenly distributed into these regular classes.[/quote]Thanks for the info! My son was affected because he went for lunch together with his dad and his dad's old schoolmates from RI, and the bunch of old schoolmates were teasing one of them for just meeting the CoP years ago, landing in the \"last class\" and eventually appealing to the best class. I guess times have changed, so thanks for the updated info!
Thanks for the reply. We have tried to involve our son in the decision-making process, and we attended a few open houses in P5 before the pandemic hit. He is fine with either RI and ACS(I) IB, recognising the pros and cons of each. Upon talking to him, I think the tipping factor for us is also his concern that he'll be placed in the last class at RI, given that he is just 2 points above the COP for RI. We are thinking of trying the public transport route from our house to ACS(I) and let him decide if he can live with this for 6 years...curioxete\" post_id=\"2004417\" time=\"1606371434\" user_id=\"25110:

As long as you put some safety net schools as your choice #5 & #6 inside your listing that are 5 to 10 points below your 251, you are safe to put Cedar (IP) and O-level, before your #5 choice
With a PSLE score of 251, is it safe to put Cedar Girls IP as first choice and Cedar O Level as second choice? Thank you in advance

Yes, pupils are ranked with decimal points (but we are only provided with rounded T Score in PSLE cert). The following article helps to explain how it works.

Final batch of pupils under the old system
The T-score system still applies for pupils in Primary 6 this year who are entering secondary school next year.
Pupils are ranked according to detailed aggregate PSLE scores that extend to decimal points. The No. 1 pupil is posted to the school at the top of his list of six choices.
Likewise the second pupil and so on, until there are no more vacancies in the school.
The pupil who fails to get his top choice will be posted to the next school on his list. If that school is also full, he will be sent to his third-choice school and so on.
There are also tie-breakers in place. For example, where there are two or more pupils with the same rounded aggregate score vying for the last place in a school, they will be posted based on their citizenship.
If there is still a tie, between two Singaporeans for example, the one with the higher unrounded aggregate score will be posted to the school first. -
