...We have been researching quite a bit, and I also found this article provided very good info. However, IB vs A styles is still rather challenging to pinpoint for a 12yo...
Hi, how about beginning with the end in mind? Would she enjoy completing Creativity Activity Service, Theory of Knowledge paper, in the Years5-6? How about third language? (It cannot replace any subjects under the IB system, unlike the ALevels.) Then there are the Maths & Science groupings, which are compulsory. Plus, a subject from the Individual & Societies grouping (which under the ALevels you could avoid)... If, she has absolutely no particular preference, would you rather she keep her options open? Develop a particular skill? ...

If we have an idea of whether T score of 260 receives ESIS, we may be able to find out if the COP for the top tier schools will remain the same, increase or decrease this year.

So far, I haven't heard of many with T score higher than 270. Anyone knows what is the highest T score for this year?

i am not sure but i saw someone ask another person if the pupil who got 261 received esis and the response was yes. (i think.) but 261 is like one point away from 260, so maybe a pupil with 260 also got esis. hope this helped a little bit...

2 girls in my school got 270+ and i also remember someone here saying that there was a girl in the son's school who got 282 but i haven't heard of anyone getting higher than 282 hmmm

I saw some one asked others if they got ESIS for their score of 260 and there is no response, for 261 the response is yes so it shall be confirmed that this year ESIS COP is 261, same as last year, unless some one raise hand for getting ESIS for score 260.

For a 12yo, the parents really need to help decide. Not to make the final decision, but to give your opinion based on your assessment of your child's personality, likes/dislikes etc. When making this decision with my younger daughter years ago, we told her what we observed about her - that she liked a degree of certainty (right/wrong) and depth to breadth (although she is fine with both), didn't really enjoy writing long things (although she was able to write well), was able to study and focus hard (so big bang exams probably weren't much of an issue). Curriculum-wise, we felt that she would be able to cope with either IB or A levels.

So other considerations came into play - the different makeup of the school population, nature of the school, etc. These are personal to the child and family, so it will differ from child to child. We gave our recommendation, but told her that the final decision had to be hers. We are happy that she decided to go with our recommendation (A levels) in the end, not because of the curriculum per se (though that was a factor), but also because of the friends she made in the school she went to, and the wider range of cultures, religions and socio-economic backgrounds she was exposed to.

I‘ve heard of a girl who scored 282, from a primary school somewhere in Tampines. Cannot confirm 282 has +3 (HCL) added to her tscore thou.

                      Dear Parents,

Hi any estimation of the cutoff of the RI - 259 , ACS-I - 256 can drop from 2019 ?
                      Thank you
It is very hard to predict. Any guess could be wrong in the end. Plus minus 1 point or remain same are all possible. Need to consider this when selecting school. By the way ESIS COP 261 is the same as last year, as far as the information by now.

Hi, my son has PSLE score of 244. Is the chance of going Maris Stella high this year ? (COP was 239 last year). Does COP swing up or down by a lot ? considering this year seems to have more students getting better score.
