Oh I see. EJC COP shot up because bulk of the seats have been taken from 3 IP schools? You mean when EJC’s COP was 10 & 11 (for year 2018), the 3 IP schools have not joined EJC yet?

Oh really? I can’t comment about the disparity among the students (if there is any) as DD1 is not yet an EJC student. Perhaps, for those O level students who are worried, please attend the Open House to get a better sensing yourselves, or join Nanyang JC

Few reasons that caused Ejc cop to shot up as I said. Not the only reason.
      Read carefully, Madam.
New campus+big cohort of 3 IP sec

Yr child from Scgs IP, soon to be Ejcian.
Go find out adverse comments on Ejc JAE why they feel 2nd class treated inside Ejc.

Attend OHouse wont reflect the gap feel by JAE.
1 classic eg leadership roles mostly taken by IPs.

Your logic baffles me. COP shot up because bulk of places taken up by 3 IP sec and new campus.
That’s why I asked you, during the initial years when the COP was 11 & 10, have the 3 IP schools not joined EJC?

Whenever I drive along CTE, I find the ITE AMK campus gorgeous! So when are you sending your children there?

Did you pick up one adverse comment from another forum and you chose to parrot it as if it’s the absolute truth or do you hope that when you repeat a falsehood often enough, it will become the truth? Yet, the COP seems to be improving every year. You means these JAE students who choose to join EJC didn’t bother to find out “the truth”?[/quote]Yes, 3 ip jcs aldry inside initial yr.
Kudos to these ip sec, if not Ejc cop would had been >11.
Now, majority places still taken up by 3 ips, partial reason cop lowered is also due to this, we cant deny this fact.

If ur child qualifys ITE, will u consider AMK pretty campus ITE? U ans yrself.
Dont u know what school canteen food selling is also a factor student choose a school.
New campus the pulling factor there too.

Ejc 2nd class Jae treatment is well known by now.
If ur deny it, then bo bian.
U need to be in Ejc, then to experience the truth.
Classic eg- different initial orientation for ip kids

my good friend's DC is JAE in EJC. this problem is so pronounced that during PTC, the teacher had to bring up to my friend that her DC has been ostracized by IP students and that the problem is quite prevalent in the school. 🤷

I find it strange that instead of solving the problem and keeping it in check, the tchr feedback this to the parent? What did the tchr expect the parent to do? Tsfr sch?
Separately, isn't this JAE/IP divide \"prevalent\" in so many IPJC given that 2/3 are from IP? Is EJC JAE students only 10% of cohort or something since there are 3 feeder schools? And doesn't EJC mix the students up in the same class regardless of admission?

There was one ex-RGS girl who sued RGS because she was being ostracized by classmates right?

Anyway, don’t know real or not but my DH’s colleague whose JAE daughter just graduated from EJC, said that she enjoyed her days there and the teachers were nice and caring.

Those who are worried, I think the best is, take whatever posted in forums a pinch of salt, go and find out more from your friends. Year after year, the JAE COP improves, these JAE students can’t have gone in blindly without finding out whether the school is good or not.

Isn't it supposed to be partnership, teacher and parent work together with the child and help the child through whatever bad patch?

Some truth to the 2nd class jae treatment does not imply that all jae go through it. So many factors to consider also.

This cliquish behaviour is found in all schools, not just IP jcs. But most students just live with it, ignore it, doesn't bother them much. There is sometimes a handful who are adversely affected and teachers have to come in to help.

But for my friend's case, it was an outright admission by the teacher himself/herself that the problem is prevalent in the school and pronounced enough to be observed by the teacher.

Now that you’ve mentioned it, it is indeed strange.
Why was it not the parent who complained that their DC was moody/depressed etc because he/she was ostracized by IP students, but it was the teacher who had to bring up to the parent that their child was ostracized by IP students?

Could it be the student couldn’t cope with the transition after O to JC and was feeling rather stressed up / moody and the teacher just causally mentioned maybe due to being ostracized by classmates. Just like some kids addicted to playing HP till fail, doesn’t mean the whole school is like that.

You are just trying very hard to wriggle your way out of a logical faux pas you committed. After all, EJC is an IP JC from day one and while this fact didn’t change, its COP has improved steadily and you can’t attribute it to it being an IP JC, which obviously it’s not a valid reason based on logical reasoning.

Since you were the one who said EJC campus was new thus attractive, I cited ITE AMK campus as another gorgeous campus which your kids can consider.

EJC treats JAE students as 2nd class? DH’s colleague whose daughter is from JAE said she enjoyed her days in EJC very much, the teachers are nice and caring. Perhaps that is your own opinion, and you just want to amplify it out of sour grapes!
You are here to put down EJC in a misguided effort to promote NYJC again under another yet another new username?

as mentioned there are other factors that can affect a child.

I happened to meet a friend whose DD is in EJC yr 1, and the girl was from St Nic IP. I only asked the mum how her girl finds EJC. The mum replied good. Girl is happy and her teachers are very very good!! I replied maybe MOE promised before, to send experience & solid teachers to EJC when they set up the new IPJC.

Overall I hear more positive feedback than negative. If you tell me a school is perfect in everything, I won’t believe. Every school sure to have its pros and cons. Have you heard of children from top schools committed suicide before? No school is perfect.

Another mum told me her DD had problem coping in MGS IB. Her classmates (from MGS pri) laughed at her for her ‘weird’ spoken English. The yr1 girl was very hurt. This type of thing can happen in any school.

Fast forward, I last heard the girl observed how her friends speak and tried to improve herself and now the girl is very confident and articulate! From a negative situation, the girl turns it round to get a positive outcome
