not really. my daughter last time always scoring A for maths but only gets B oso C sometimes with physics. I think most girls have no interest in physics at all

Can be the other way round too. Bad at Maths, good at physics

Ya it is possible that the child can be getting straight A in AMath and Emath but not Physics. One way for you to judge if your child should take Physics O levels is to look at the score in lower sec science exam. If the topics were related to Physics and the score was not ideal, it is most likely that the child has no interest or find difficulty in applying the formulas which are related to the concepts. Hello! There isn't a specific list of recommended physics books. However, the science department of every school will discuss and decide the best resources that will supplement the teaching. Hence, it is safe to follow the teachers' advice.

For a student who is still in lower sec, I would recommend not to get O lvl reference material yet. This is because, the focus for Sec 2 and Sec 3/4 is different. The focus at sec 2 level is on scientific skills and developing an interest in the learning of science, whereas at Sec 4, the focus is on preparing students for O lvls. The topics, the depth and the breadth of the topics will be different. At the end of sec 2, there will be a streaming exercise where students will choose the type of science to pursue, ranging from Combined to Pure, Bio to Phy to Chem etc. We also find that students are better able to grasp the concepts when they are in Sec 3-4.

In summary, my advice is, there is no need to get the reference materials or TYS too early on

Have you taken a look at your own school's Sec 3 booklist ?
The recommended textbooks, workbooks would appear inside the Sec 3 school's booklist.

Also,
depend on which Secondary school your child come from.

Eg.

For IP2 students,
can start reading up Sec 3 Pure Chem / Bio / Physics textbooks, inside Sec 3 booklist.


But for OP2 students,
no need .
Just focus on your Sec 2 textbooks will do. Unless you are an OP student, studying in a dual track IP school.



OP2 :
Sec 2 students, in the O-level curriculum program.


IP2 :
Sec 2 students, in the IP curriculum program.

How about IP1 ?
