Hi, intend to sign up my girl at either Safra Jurong/Lim Bang/10-mile Junction/Pandan Valley..but can't decide which 1..
Any1 has comments on the above centres/any teachers to highly recommend from any of the centres?
Especially Lim Bang, which is the nearest & most convenient for me, but heard that it's the newest, think only for a few months only, so not sure of the quality of the teachers there..
& can anyone kindly pm me on your kids' details, for the 8% discount thingy?
btw, must be from the same centre, then entitle for the discount?
Appreciate
Thanks in advance!! -
Cool Hi,
Have PM you my kid’s details. As for centre, not sure as no experience with these centres. But better to go somewhere your kid is comfortable, logistically convenient for you and the teachers are experienced. Just my 2 cents. -
Hi, Pen88n,
got yoour pm..thanks!
Ya, still checking on available time slots etc, before I decide..
Will pm u after I sign up
So far how u find CMA program??
Your child started from how old & has been in CMA for how long?
So far, what are the benefits u see in your child?
Btw, your child is at Novena branch, how is the centre & any teacher to recommend?
Coz Novena is also ok for us on SUnday, depending on time slots available
Thanks for info in advance

hi all…
i just pulled out my 6 years old K2 son from the course after 10 weeks (20 lessons). This is even though he thoroughly enjoyed each session and is in fact progressing at break neck speed (doing 5 to 6 new books already). However i soon realised something after 2 months, he has forgotten all his traditional maths!
You see…Before learning abs, my son is already practising Pri 2 maths with word problems and all…however when i showed him Pri 1 maths again after 2 months of intensive abs, i realised that he has forgotten how to do v simple Pri 1 maths.
I don know whether any other parents experienced this - i.e. after few months or even years of intensive abs homework, the child is unable to do simple worded maths problem. I also think that the course is unduly draggy with too much repeated practice…an over conditioning of the mind?.i dont know?..am i overly worried?.
cheers. -
Is this for real? I am considering to send my girl (k1) to the CMA in Jurong East as she enjoyed the trial class.
In fact is there any mummy who can refer me to teh JE branch to enjoy the discount? -

Boonlaysg, the way I understand it, Abacus enhances visualization abilities and should not have the kind of consequences as forgetting how to do problem sums. Could it be intensive Abacus practice and lack of problem sum practice?

My son is also in K2 and he's been with CMA for over 2 years. I have to admit that we are not so advanced into Primary syllabus so I do not see this happening. But problem sums exercises different skills and my son do not have any problems with his Maths in school. When he first started doing simple Maths in K1, he seemed to have some confusion until we got him to \"apply what the teacher teaches\", and not to put the two together. Eventually, he learnt when to use Abacus only to check his answers for school work.
My 4 year-old daughter, on the contrary, have difficulties learning the abacus. She seemed to have strong Math skills than her brother when he was her age, but when it came to picking up the Abacus, she's totally lost. She would count all the beads instead of recognizing them as images...
So for the image of 99, she would count them and say it is 18 :stupid: -

\"Sharon baked 40 brownies. She gave her 3 neighbours 8 brownies each.
(a) How many brownies did she gave her neighbours altogether?
(B) How many brownies did she have left?\"
and see whether he can solve using abs skills.

May I know what is the 8% discount about? I'm keen to enrol my boy.:)
