I forgot the lab part...thank goodness slmkoo mentioned. thanks.zac's mum\" post_id=\"2009663\" time=\"1608950300\" user_id=\"53606:
If I may just chip in a little bit...he already did poly right? Instead of going backwards to A levels, he can actually move forwards. Poly education is closer to Uni standards. He could either start on his offered NTU course, do the common 1st year modules, then try to switch to a different course in NTU. Or NUS.
DH did combined Science for O levels. Went to Poly Biotech course. He had a lot to catch up in overseas Uni Biochem course, but some bridging modules were provided to fill in the gaps. Not much point to go back and take A level Biology just to meet the Pre-requisites. It is way too tough (and too theoretical to score well in, for Poly thinkers).
this boy is thinking of taking medicine in NUS. he did combined science and pure bio in secondary school.
went to EEE in SP.
now he is seriously thinking of switching to medicine and study cardio.
thanks for your advice Zac's mum.
Private candidates at 'A' levels with no Project Work - NUS

To add on,
private candidates need to do PW?
for \" private \" A-level candidates ,
how does NUS / NTU,
define one complete round of \"A-level\" certificate sitting ?
Is it constitute
- General Paper, not so much of PW , but GP more important ?
- H1 Chinese,
- minimum H1 / H2 (include 3 other subjects ) ?
And
- the \"private\" A-level candidate must have sat for National exam, no longer than maximum past (2 to 3) years, time-frame limit controlled ? Otherwise, if exam taken too long ago, eg. More than 5 years ago, time had expired, candidate must re-take again, in case the A-level syllabus changed, become \"out-dated\" ?
Question is,
For Polytechnic students who have never done GP nor PW before, then how ? -

Can I combine the results from two sittings of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examination to meet the entry and course requirements?
You can only combine results from separate sittings of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level in the following instances:
a. You may take the Mother Tongue Language (MTL) paper more than once and submit your best grade for admission consideration.
b. If you are applying for Law-related course(s) and did not obtain at least a B3 (for old syllabus)/B (for new syllabus) for General Paper (GP) or B in your Knowledge & Inquiry (KI) (for new syllabus) in your first sitting, you may submit the improved GP grade from another sitting to qualify for application to this course. However, the GP or KI grade obtained from the first sitting will be used for admission consideration.
c. For admission consideration, we will consider your grades for GP/KI and 3 H2 subjects attained at one sitting of the A-level examination. Only the H1 content-based subject, H1 Project Work (PW) and H1 Mother-Tongue Language (MTL) subject can be of a different sitting (if this is presented, we will use the grades of these 3 H1 subjects attained at the earlier A-level examination). If you decide to retake any of the H1 subjects (excluding H1 General Paper), the best H1 subject grade will be taken into consideration for university admission. -

GP plus 3 H2 subjects

I can't find any mention of a time limit.

Wrt PW: (posted earlier, but I repeat it here for completeness

Although it is a requirement that students presenting the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examination results for admission to NUS must submit PW scores, we realise that there could be some students who do not have the opportunity to offer the subject. Such candidates will not be at a disadvantage and will not be required to submit PW scores for university admission. Instead, they will be considered for admission based on their overall performance in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' Level examination.
In addition, they may submit information on any exceptional talent/quality such as achievements in the area of the arts or sports at the national level, holding key management positions in organisations or a volunteer in social organisations. This exceptional talent/quality will be taken into consideration in your application for admission.
Wrt GP - looks like they have to take this as a private candidate. -

To add on,
Do private candidates need to do PW?
for \"private\" candidates who are taking A-level exam,
example,
for some Polytechnic students who are actually not that keen in their current allocated given assigned \"dumping ground\" Diploma course inside the Polytechnic, because to end up in a Poly wasn't even their choice in the first case but somehow still got ended up in a Poly by circumstances,
E.g.
Scored beyond 20 points, in their L1R5
they can only take \"General Paper\", but not PW
because
there are a few tuition centre that do teach GP in Singapore, but not sure whether there are any tuition centre that teach PW ?
If have,
which are some of these named tuition Center, that teach PW ?
PW is taught in only
( A-level JCs + IB (ACSI / SJI),
but not in any tuition centre? -

Without H1 MTL:-
UAS = 3 H2 + 1 H1 + H1 GP + H1 PW
With H1 MTL:-
[(3 H2 + 1 H1 + H1 GP + H1 PW + H1 MTL) / 100] x 90
The higher score (with or without MTL) will be the student's University Admission Score (UAS).
