Dd says anyone can join the service learning projects.

U don’t need to be in any particular council or cca to join it.

There are existing SL projects that the seniors have started on and interested students can sign up to join in.
It will be posted on the school’s iemb.

Alternatively, a student can form a group with his/her schoolmates to initiate a new SL project.
They would have to submit their proposal to ISP (school’s portal) for evaluation and approval.
Btw, in case the SL project that your child’s group is keen to start on needs some funding, they can consider approaching the National Youth Council.
There are certain grants administered by them.
Again, they would have to submit their proposal and make a presentation to them if shortlisted.
        https://www.nyc.gov.sg/en/initiatives/grants/

Dd has just graduated and is unable to access some school platforms now but she thinks it should be compulsory for a student to have a CCA.
Anyway, there should be some briefings about CCA and SL projects, so the students can always double check.

Hi, my dd is interested in joining ssrc as her cca. Can I know if this cca is very stressful? And what do yall think of this cca? Is the level of commitment very high?
Any reply will be deeply appreciated. thank you!
Hey thereee 🙂 From what I know, SSRC is a cca that allows you to choose a science project to work on with a mentor and a partner. It is not super stressful, but do be ready to expect some sort of commitment depending on the nature of the project. It is not the same for every student who joins the cca because every project is pretty much novel! 🙂 But I do hear from my friends that it is a super good experience 🙂 Hope this helps!

Any idea why my daughter friend of nett 4 is not allocated to hci first choice school? Is it because MOE looks at raw score or is it because they look at gross before HMT/CCA points too? Any success cases in appealing before?

4 is the cut off which means there is a ballot? Not all the 4s will get in.

The tie-breakers (after net score) are citizenship, gross score, and then ballot.

The student probably got 8-4? When demand exceeds supply, the student with the lower raw score has priority, amongst students with net 4.

So, if there are 2 students (X and Y), both are Sg citizen and both also end up with nett 4, but the one with the better original Raw score entered first,

                      example

                      student X : 6 - 2

(scored 2 points for Cca, but did not take O-level Higher Chinese)

                      student Y : 8 - 4

(achieved 2 discount points for clearing Cca + achieved another 2 discount points for passing O-level (HCL)

                      Who performed, better ?

                      X

                      because
X have a better L1R5 (original 6 points), compared to Y (original 8 points). So, X got admitted first into Hwa Chong, before Y

That is indeed the case and she was allocated to nyjc. Which brings me to the next question. Do you all find out that after the R/H schools, the JAE prefers nyjc over say VJ or NJ (very old established A level powerhouse sch) Nd i really wonder why? No offense.but was surprised at the school popularity. At the rate that nyjc is going (assuming the JAE who couldn't get accepted into H/R all allotted to nyjc), in no time, nyjc A level results could really be on par?
