      Do update yourself.
In this new norm, know the 3As

From sharing by J3 students in another forum ( Mean or Medium)
      RI mean 84.5
      HCI mean 85

      Ny Medium 86
      Vjc Medium 85
      Ejc Medium 85

      Dhs mean 80.4
      Tjc mean 81.
      Acjc mean 79.9

Let's examine the figures (above), in greater detail.

Since Nanyang Junior College can only supply their \"Median\" figure, but not their \"Mean\",

going by their \"Median\" (Not \"Medium\") statistics which Joashhyy had supplied above,

is it right or wrong (stating reasons) for one to conclude that,

      for 2020 A-level batch (born 2002) :

      1)

      Nanyang JC
(Non-IP, entirely purely JAE students admitted ) cohort with her Median at 86

      actually performed better

than these two IP-JCs cohort from (Eunoia and Victoria) JC, both with the same Median, 85 ?

      2)

Eunoia JC is actually on par now, with Victoria JC, both with the same Median 85 ?

      3) Temasek JC, with her mean 81,

      - performed better than Dunman High, with mean 80.4, and

      - TJC also performed better than ACJC, with mean 79.9 ?

(above questions are posed, based on the assumption that statistics above provided by Joashhyy, are Accurate)

      JC Performance:
      1) HCI
      2) RI
      3) NYJC
      4) EJC
      4) VJC
      6) NJC ( Median 83 )
      7) TJC
      😎 DHS
      9) ACJC
      10) RVHS

      Top 5 JCs:
      HCI
      RI
      NYJC
      EJC, VJC

Not sure why year after year, these people will come and compare NYJC with the other JCs? Do you guys have an inferiority complex so that by doing this you feel that you are better than others?

Your analysis basing on just UAS mean/median rank points is so simplistic. To properly gauged a JC's performance, you would also have to consider other statistics ( which most of the top JCs share except NYJC who remain very secretive on this )

        eg
Number of students that got perfect score of 90
Number of students that got A's in each subject
        Number of students doing 4H2
        Number of students doing H3
Number of students getting 9, 8 and 7 distinctions
Number of students having scholarshops e.g

VJC has a total 5 President scholars. NYJC =0 (even though NYJC has a much longer history than VJC)
NYJC has only 6 PSC scholars in its 40+ years of existence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanyang_Junior_College) . EJC in her first year has already 3 PSC scholars. That's half of NYJC entire 40 years quota.

I can go on and on...but you should get the point.

JC Rankings in Singapore based on release of A level results in Year 2021)

Ranking is based on release of results reflected in the official website of schools.
For the benefit of parents or students who would prefer to do comparison based on official results ( with verification in the respective school websites), the information displayed below would be the most accurate to gauge the standard of various JCs. Unless there are official results released in the school website, otherwise i would exclude JCs that did not release any info in their respective website. Thank you for understanding

JC Rankings (Result release in Year 2021

          1) Hwa Chong Institution (Mean 85, 25% score UAS 90 RP) RP stands for Rank Points, full score is 90
          2) Raffles Junior College (Mean 84.5, 28% score UAS 90 RP)
          3) Victoria Junior College (Median 85, 15% score UAS 90 RP, 40% > 87.5 RP)
          4) Eunoia Junior College (Median 85, 13% score UAS 90 RP, 50% > 85 RP )
          5) Dunman High (Median 83, 40% = or > 85 RP)
          6)National Junior College (Median 83, 40% = or > 85 RP)
          7)River Valley High ( no indication of median, 30% = or > 85 RP)

(For more detailed information, please visit the respective school websites) One point to note though is traditionally, people will look at mean or median score as a gauge, but it would be good to look at other factors like how the schools fare for General Paper and Project work as this will affect the overall rank points (RP) of students for admission to unis. Another interesting point to note is the percentage of students in the school scoring perfect UAS of 90 RP, Let's celebrate their efforts including those schools which didn't officially released their results. Well done to all students!

Nyjc Median 86 was shared Live by Principal, Mr Low on its FB, dated 21th.

Official news released by JCs on web site may not display the most accurate to gauge the standard of various JCs too.
            Some JCs underperformed.

We should do our research thoroughly.

Thanks Joashhyy, thanks for info. 🙂 Perhaps for the next A level results, the school might want to publish the official results with more detailed information into the school website. Congrats to all A Level students for their effort!

Prior, dont see having these factors to consider.

The median UAS is one measure of a JC’s performance but so is the number of scholarship holders. Why hype on one measure and not bother to mention the other?

It could also explain the small number of scholars NYJC had produced over the decades. Stetan posted good questions, so what is the number of NY students who took 4H2 and H3 subjects etc.?

NYJC is not stretching the potential of her students to the fullest despite enrolling top O level students.

If RI or HCI follows NYJC style of getting the majority of their students to focus only on 3H2 subjects, would they still be considered the top JCs? No, because they know that developing their good students’ potential is also important.

                      Thanks MP!

Other than the usual suspects Med, law or IT, what are the more popular universities courses amongst the jc graduates these days? I can’t help comparing NTU NUS or SMU biz.

Information is not easy to come by nowadays in regard to performance of school unlike the old days in this forum which I find really helpful. Thanks a lot to Joashhyy and eaglewing95 for sharing the info here.

I think most schools release information for a purpose like boosting the morale of their own students, parents and may be public image in general. So, likely it will shows something good than bad. If information released isn’t enough to enable comparison on equal basis, it is then open to different interpretations.

The three closest in result are Ny, VJC and EJC.

                        …Median…90…>87.5…>85
                        Ny…86…NA…NA…NA
                        VJC…85…15%…40%…NA
                        EJC…85…13%…NA…50%

                        1) Decimal is important here for clearer margin of difference.
                        2) Ny performance is outstanding considered the fact that they are non-IP, entirely JAE students. They are comparable and even better than some IP/JAE JC.
                        3) The argument that Ny is better than VJC and EJC could be a flaw without more info (90, 87.5 & 85 RP) from Ny. I am more inclined to think it is likely not:- (i) School tend to release info that is good to them (but not info that show they are not actually that good); (ii) IP cohort has a bigger poll of brighter students (based on psle score) and there will be likely more students scoring at the higher range in the "above median" distribution than Ny which is likely more on the lower range. This may be wrong unless Ny is willing to release the information to prove otherwise.
