What’s the percentage (roughly) of HCI students in JC2 taking 3 H2 subjects, instead of 4 H2, in recent A-level batches ?

No idea but to take 4H2, your sec 4 MSG of L2R5 must be at least 2.5 or better (ie average of A2/B3). That’s for nygh and I believe hci high sch has the same criteria. To promote to hci Year 5, MSG must be 3 or better.

Correct, HCI (Sec) is the same MSG < 3.0 for promotion to JC1 and MSG < 2.5 for 4H2. I believe HCI is including all subjects (8-9 subjects excluding third language/MEP) + PW in the MSG, although I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes vs. L2R5.

Does someone have a list of the Subject Combinations that were available this year? Link on the College section website doesn’t work…

Dont know about the % of students who received it.

Not sure if there has been any changes, these were the 4 criteria previously:
                1) Academic results (3 types of Diploma awarded and it is tiered based on JC2 Prelim UAP score)
                2) Conduct - Excellent grade
                3) Community service - min 12 hours
                4) Meets Either the Scholastic Achievement OR Leadership and Service requirement

Saw this - more than 700 diploma were given out last year.

                    https://www.hci.edu.sg/news/class-of-2020-exemplifies-grit-and-compassion

Diploma is given upon completion of JC (Dec).
Not all local uni courses offers early admission, certain application will be processed after the A level results are released.
An outstanding student with very good academic records, achievements that demonstrates other qualities that are valued, performs well at interviews/selection test will be sought after.
This is from school’s sharing :

DD’s friend who does not have the diploma, did not do any early admission application, applied for admission after the A level results were released with a perfect UAP score. She was offered a local uni scholarship too upon clearing the interview/selection.

Thanks lego! The kids just had their block tests and received results. How do we know whether they are coping well? What is considered an average grade?

I look at the percentile to gauge my child’s relative performance. It is available on the school’s portal (ISP), u can log in using parent’s userid/password.

If the percentile is not really off, I take it as ok. I think the percentile info is computed automatically when the teachers key in their students grades, so what u see at the first instance may not be the final one until all of them have done so.
The school publishes the distinction rate for certain subjects on its website. For subjects that has a high distinction rate, a student with below the average grade may still end up with a distinction at the A levels.

Dd says for Maths - students who score D and below grades have to go for extra lessons while the rest have the free period in class to do their own work/revision. (It is inbuilt into the timetable).
Other subjects - class teachers may pick up those who are falling behind to have remedials/consultations after school hours.
Students can also book a consultation session with their teachers on their own accord.
