Oh, I was under the impression that if child is on MC for any of the PSLE papers, MOE will just use the prelim results?[/quote]
Here are the instructions/notice we got last year. Not really sure what it all means and fortunately did not have to find out...

If you are unable to sit for papers in the national examinations, special consideration will be applied. In awarding a grade, we will take into consideration multiple sources of evidence, such as your performance in the other papers for that affected subject in the national and school-based examinations as well as the school cohort's performance in the national and school-based examinations.

Ok, noted. “Multiple sources of evidence”…but I guess they won’t reveal to the parent exactly how they “take into consideration”.

I happen to know an acquaintance whose child missed one paper due to medical condition flare up last year…and took another paper while recovering in the KKH ward. Could ask whether MOE revealed the calculation for the final grade but I won’t lah.

Let's zoom into above SAP schools, based on 2020 cohort

How do you interpret CHS ?

Suppose two boys applied for Catholic High (CHS).

                    One boy applied for IP.
He gotten 8 AL points but his HCL is only a \"Pass\", not \"Merit\".

Does it mean that he failed to enter Catholic High (IP), because noticed that Moe specified IP cut off at 8 points with a \"Merit\" in Higher Chinese, not just merely acquired a \"Pass\" ?

The second boy (Non affliation ) scored AL 9 points, also with a Pass in HCL.

Does it mean that he failed to enter CHS (O level track), because he acquired a \"Pass \" in HCL, not a \"Merit\", but MOE specify must have at least a \"Merit\" for O-level course, whose Cut off point AL 9 ?

                    ==================

How to interpret River Valley High (RV), whose Cut off at AL 9, with \"Distinction\" in Higher Chinese ?

Does it mean all those students with AL 9 who applied for RV, but armed with either a \"Pass\" or \"Merit\" in their HCL -
all didn't make it to RV ?

                    If true,
means all those who are applying for SAP schools, their HCL performance ranking is important, because the sequence of choosing your 6 choices schools become crucial

                      Take RV for example,

It simply means the last student who got admitted to RV in 2021 Sec 1 scored 250+3
And 250 is translated to AL9
