I don't know if banning visitors from snacking/ la kopi alongside their loved ones in the ward would lower the risk.

Even if they don't remove their mask to consume food in the wards or grab a coffee downstairs, the virus would still stick to their bodies/belongings when they get home. Remember they would have sat on the chair in the ward, used the ward / lobby bathroom, touched lift buttons & hospital handrails, bought something from vending machine, during visitation.

You can't ban nurses from crossing to opposite malls, supermarkets and foodcourts to grab a bite on the way home via MRT after their shift. You also can't ban visitors from bringing outside food/beverages into the hospitals for their loved ones to eat. (You need to remove your mask to blow the nourishing soup cool before feeding your Ah Gong Ah Ma!) 😂

But perhaps they can advise students/staff working nearby not to patronise the hospital foodcourt & cafes.

Food deliverymen to/fro hospitals can be infected too/bring in the virus. https://www.mirrormedia.mg/story/20210128edi045/

Now even a nearby NNI doctor has been infected. Wondering about those LKC medical students now and a couple of SHN hotels in Novena...

        Straits Times report

No point in covid rules -
If visitors in hospital can take off mask for food & drinks.

Why should hospital \"visitors\" be allowed eating / drinking, inside the hospital ward ?

        https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/visitors-to-wards-in-a-public-hospital-allowed-to-take-masks-off-if-they-have-food
I was shocked with this report. How can this happen at a hospital where there are sick folks and hence lower immunity against coronavirus? Something is wrong somewhere but who will do a thorough investigation.

Today’s community cases more than imported ones. Once border close to those coming fr India, it seems to be dropping. So, we shld tighten our alertness & vigilantly practice good social distancing & hygiene shld help slow the spread. I was at Kai Lim hardware & saw 2 ang moh, one with masks below his nose. I became ‘rude’ pointing for his mask to go up. Good thing this burly big man apologetically complied. Me ain’t ambassador but only in heart. I’ve to get ‘outsiders’ to comply to protect my own countrymen & women! Cheez!

Don’t know what came onto me, but I see non-compliance wrt covid rules, my sense just break loose! 😂 Told one Indian guy & this ang MOH. The other times were just chatting nicely with elderly that I ustand it’s stuffy & difficult for them to breathe, but tt it’s safer if they make short trips & rush home take off mask, if no stamina to reach home yet then go to less crowded corner to lift mask & go home quick. S’times they just sit in corner chit chat. Life in sunset days so uninteresting NEH, hv to live so care-less? Haiz!

I dont understand why we are in this mess. We did very well with no or a couple of community cases for months. We follow rules ie using TT token, SafeEntry & Temp Check, we wear a mask, we get vaccinated etc.
              This report stated that

              \"
Singapore ranks 4th out of 28 in the world, with the MOST number of B1617 Indian variant cases \" -

Looking at the swelling TTSH cluster and ICA and Edgefield Sec clusters makes me boil. How did that happen?! They just want more, more, more please more come in quickly before we shut the doors? One more ticket sold and one more room occupied also good hor, just one more...nevermind the double mutants. Don't be scared. We have the 40,000 beds on standby. Cannot discriminate, Singaporeans. We know who's the mastermind behind this.

                    :faint:

If you go into NCID, do you dare to take off your mask? If not, why you dare to do it in TTSH wards? Because you assume “it’s clean”? Then that’s complacency.

Wearing masks has been proven to be effective in preventing the transmission of Covid virus.
