Do you know that when you see western doctor and ask them what can and can not eat, they will tell you everything can eat, but when you see TCM, they will tell u this can not, that can not. it all depend on individual body system. I think it still can take a bit of bean sprout la, meat la, but not too much, anything which is so much, it will be :x

Generally, it is the animals' protein that is the problem but that does not mean not eating red meat as iron from red meat is good for the body, just remove all fats & avoid organs of animals. There are a variety of other meat like chicken, crocodile meat, turkey, frogs' meat etc, all in moderation.

Gout sufferers should also be mindful of consumption of seafood with SHELLs or shellfish eg prawns, lobster, clams etc.

If you are chinese, you will find CNY a very challenging period cos of all the reunion dinners, gatherings, CNY goodies ahh must really exercise lots of self control during this period.

It is indeed scary looking at the list of food to avoid & the gout sufferer feels worse, like everything also cannot eat. Even during attack can & must still eat nutritious food but must load up with lots & lots of plain water to wash off toxic & build up of the sugar crystals at the joints.

You can go to the NTUC Organic Section for choice of Black Cherry Juice/Blue Cherry Juice. The Black Cherry Juice is arount $7+/ Can eat fresh cherries when in season but it seems it is the black cherry juice that many advocate about.

The question about why some people kena & others don't varies. Gout is known to be genetically linked. It can be caused or side effects of medicine like high blood pressure (I am not entirely sure but I thought I read about this before). Even among gout sufferers, why is it that some can take tofu but others can't also varies, maybe one take more water to wash off, the other doesn't or one take tofu but avoid all other red meat etc etc.

The gout suffer has put in deligent efforts to tail down the uric acid during period of attack or the few months after that. Once it has come down than go back to normal diet & you'll be surprised the next attack won't happen till years later or may not happen. So it is a very livable condition.

Hope my sharing helps 😄 .

            hi,

Another suggestion for a more natural ways to treat gout is to use essential oils.
I have gathered some information on usage of the oils for gout at the following

            http://www.thedoterrasingapore.com/main/Usage_Guide/Entries/2011/4/24_Gout.html

Read that Lemon oil & Thyme oil are anti-rheumatic.

            hope this helps

If its gout then I suggest you cut down on foods rich in protein, beans, beer, red meat and so on.. If the condition isn't getting better then I suggest you already consult with your doctor or gout specialist.

Agree with marygee. For gout treatment, it's best to see a specialist so you'll know which treatments will work for your specific case. When our father was attacked with gout, we took him to Dr Leong Keng Hong at Gleneagles to get treatment. Aside from pain meds and nsaids, he was also advised to change his diet and lifestyle. Thankfully it was a mild case.

Leong Keng Hong is great. We met him a while back for my dad's arthritis and he did the same thing, as much as possible he likes to keeps his treatments non-invasive but effective.

For gout I think you should also lay off salty food and alcohol binges, right? Coz these are the main triggers?

                Another FAKE review!

Such a coincidence to have a clairesing and a troydy with both accounts created on 20 March 2024 to be singing praises of the SAME doctor in 2 separate posts, posted a few minutes apart.

Tsk tsk. At least make a bigger effort and hide it better like the others. So easy to spot!

I made a report to the moderators about this one and the ortho doctor. Hopefully these can be removed.

Thanks, @manorway and @slmkhoo for detecting the posts. I have removed them.

I wonder if their advertising serves to be useful or detrimental to the doctors involved.

Chief, there are a few more of such reviews over the last few days. Check under the following topics
                      Juvenile Arthritis,
                      Urgent knee pain,
                      Total knee cap replacement surgery

I don't know how to report them when I spotted them though. So I could only highlight them. Hate to see innocent parties genuinely looking for recommendations get misled.

Yes... I think I have removed those posts and users. It's hard to distinguish between real and fake posts and most times, it's based on gut feeling and we need to err by caution.
