I recall in the ST that the nurse was referred to as the first \"detected\" case, not the index case.
MOH press release somehow kept saying “linked to the nurse cluster”? And continued to refer her as the index patient. And she might not even be the index patient, why make it sound as if she is the cause of the outbreak in TTSH?

Maybe ST and MOH can be more sensitive and show more empathy towards the nurse. In fact, if not for her instinctive response to check in to the A&E clinic when she developed mild symptoms, the cluster would have not been detected so swiftly and brought under control.

Just some months back, many of us were extolled to clap hands to show our appreciation of the nurses and medical staff for their sacrifices during the pandemic. Now something happens, giving TTSH the distinction of being the first local hospital cluster, it would seem that the poor nurse is being thrown under the bus to dissociate the cluster from TTSH.

The 57 yr-old is Singaporean. He showed symptoms the earliest, but there could be asymptomatic cases earlier than him in the cluster. So I guess they can't definitively say that he is the index case. I'm not sure how they can determine the index case when there are asymptomatic cases.
Then don’t say “linked to the nurse” lah

In anyways, we don’t know the full story if the nurse have started it. She might gotten it from the patients. Nonetheless, that’s why its very important to stay at home if not for essential needs.

I suddenly recall PM Lee in his live TV telecast last Sep had mentioned: \" a pharmaceutical company that is planning to build a facility in Singapore to manufacture vaccines, and a company that specialises in pandemic risk insurance.\"
                https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/government-economy/investors-still-interested-despite-covid-19-singapore-cannot-afford-to-turn

I've been waiting for updates on this and it seems that EDB didn't manage to entice this investor to come here to build a facility yah? Is it Thermo Fisher Scientific he was referring to?
                https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/singapore-to-look-at-boosting-manufacture-of-pharmaceutical-products

And then PM also mentioned last Jun that Singapore intends to offer fill-and-finish contract manufacturing services to vaccine developers. Is this also Thermo? Or someone who has changed his mind?

                ...
I also read that we're the APAC distribution hub for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. But hardly any country in ASEAN is buying Pfizer. We only deliver to ANZ then. Most ASEAN nations are buying Sinovac from China and some even have to receive their vaccines from the PLA military cargo aircraft, not their own national flag carrier. Not so glorious huh...

Greater China (Mainland, HK, Macau and Taiwan) distribution rights of BioNTech had been secured by Shanghai Fosun Pharma last Mar, meaning HK's vaccines will be shipped by Cathay Pacific and mainland's by China Eastern Airlines.

If Fosun buys up the distribution rights of the entire APAC from Pfizer in future, our future BioNTech vaccines could be co-developed by China's Fosun and delivered via Air China, China Eastern or PLA aircraft in future. Eeewwweee...I don't dare to inject anything not from Belgium or Germany. Don't want to be held ransom by a superpower.
Very happy to read this breaking news today! :rahrah: Made in Singapore BioNTech! No need to 看欧盟和中国脸色。 No need to fret about newer 16 year old cohorts. And future 12-15 yr olds vaccine quality if approved by WHO/HSA.

loved the \"estimated annual capacity of several hundred of million doses\"

but only operational in 2023 :snooze:
