the remaining 40% elderly who can't or refuse to take the vaccine.
The take-up rate is actually quite encouraging.

About 71 per cent of eligible seniors aged 60 and above, as well as 66 per cent of eligible adults aged 45 to 59 have either received or registered for vaccinations.

I believe it will go higher especially for the seniors as MOH is trying to deploy home vaccination teams to home-bound individuals.

      Stay safe!

Anyone here planning to take flu vaccines here? I wonder what spacing I need to give between Covid and flu vaccines.

You may receive the COVID-19 vaccine before or after your flu vaccine. The current recommendation is to space the COVID-19 vaccination apart from other non-COVID-19 vaccinations for two weeks or more.

Better check with the clinic/doctor again when you book your flu vaccine.

              Stay safe.

'No truth' in India news reports claiming Singapore variant of COVID-19 virus: MOH

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday (May 18) said that there is “no truth whatsoever” in the assertion in several news reports in India that there is a Singapore variant of the COVID-19 virus.

The claims were reported in articles published by the Hindustan Times and NDTV, both publications from India.

The articles quoted tweets from Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was cited as saying that the new strain is “extremely dangerous for children” and could result in a third wave of infection in India.

MOH said in response on Tuesday that “there is no ‘Singapore variant’”.

“The strain that is prevalent in many of the COVID-19 cases in recent weeks is the B16172 variant, which originated in India,” it said.

“Phylogenetic testing has shown this B16172 variant to be associated with several clusters in Singapore.”

Two COVID-19 sub-variants from India have been detected among imported and community cases in Singapore, including those who have been linked to the Tan Tock Seng and Changi Airport clusters......

S’pore politicians may be trying too hard to sell the idea of vaccination to children. There are better ways to engage the community to encourage children to get vaccinated against covid-19

Covid 19 vaccination in Singapore is not compulsory. We are encouraged to be vaccinated to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

Sadly, we now have 5 Covid patients in ICU (can someone correct me - this is the highest number in a long time right?) and 215 hospitalised in stable condition.
