Mind sharing which are the popular schools with track record?
My personal opinion is that if you want the school to do the pushing and drilling for you (like what I have for my kids), then choose a more popular school with track record. I actually love the tons of homework given bc that means my kids are sufficiently occupied without tuition or any other topups I need to plan for them in the academic sense. I can shake legs and leave it to the school to drill.
Cos there are some 2CS neighborhood schools that give tons of hw, yet the teachers do not mark properly nor go thru corrections thoroughly. And there are many popular branded schools where the teachers do nothing extra, because they know the parents are already paying for elite tuition outside. -

For the clueless ones, start talking to older colleagues/friends/neighbours to find out? For the ones in this forum, roughly we should know which are the popular ones that have track records. Some years ago, I think some schools do reveal % of students getting above 250 or something or it was even populated in this forum if I don't remember wrongly.Imp75\" post_id=\"2026035\" time=\"1622680191\" user_id=\"2358:Mind sharing which are the popular schools with track record?

Hi fellow parents,
Looking for opinions and perhaps angles we have missed in this school picking dilemma.
Daughter born in 2016, torn between PLMGPS (I’m an alumni) (+ points: affiliation - points: location) and RVPS (husband is an old boy) (+ points: location - points: no affiliation)
On the housing front, we are looking for our new place and are torn between a CCR location for RVPS vs an outside CCR ‘suburbs’ region for PLMGPS.
We know the importance of living nearer to a school, as we do not want to tire her out with traveling time.
How do you guys decide? Hope to hear some thoughts, thanks everyone. -

I would pick PLMGPS for sure. Housing will be more affordable too. Can’t say I see any strong pull factor in RVPS unless you’re planning on having a boy. And even if you do have a son in the future, you still have a guaranteed seat for him at RVPS.

Assuming you don't also have a son, I'd decide on this basis:

(1) Do you want a Christian school?
(2) Do you want a single-sex school?
If yes to either, PLMGPS.
If no, RVPS, because it sounds like you'd prefer a central location. I don't think I'd go for PLMGPS just for affiliation if I wasn't looking for a Christian and/or single-sex school. (But my kids are still little - perhaps I'm underestimating the power of affiliation!) -
Dear fellow parents,
It is my first time on this platform and my wife and I are probably too late into the "party" but I still hope to get some advise from parents here.
Our firstborn will be enrolling into Primary school next year and we are absolutely clueless where to apply to, hence would like to seek your advises and feedbacks especially on this 2 schools: Kuo Chuan Presbyterian (1-2km away) and Pei Chun Public School (2km away). We are also <1km away from Catholic High and 1-2km away from Ai Tong (but we can only apply under P2C)
My wife and I are old girl/boy at KCPPS and PCPS, but we did not know or join any alumni so we can only start application at these 2 schools under P2A2. However we cannot decide which to go for and just looking at the school websites does not really give us much idea about the two schools. Therefore would really appreciate any feedback of parents whose kids are already in these schools. TYVM! -

You can forgo CHS and ATS as both ballot <1km in 2C. PCPS mostly will also ballot >2km in 2A2.

You are definitely underestimating the power / attraction / benefit of an affiliated school.
Assuming you don't also have a son, I'd decide on this basis:needtoplan\" post_id=\"2026080\" time=\"1622699895\" user_id=\"181210:

While every school, a good school, some schools are good-er than others; the same can be said for affiliation / affiliated schools. IMHO, PLMGS is definitely one of those good-er schools that should be seriously looked at. PLMGS is also one of those rarer affiliated schools where some affiliated students have much better results than non-affiliates (which.
Unless needtoplan has another boy, or must live in the city centre, I would pick PLMGS over RVPS. On location if she chooses a location such as Bartley or Upper Paya Lebar, she actually won’t be far from either PLMGS or the city centre by private or public transport. -

As the others have highlighted, you only have to keep your focus on 2 schools: PCPS or KCPPS.

While PCPS is undoubtedly the more famous and popular school, KCPPS has the added advantage of affiliation. It is also a shoo-in for you at Phase 2A2 without having to do anything else. For PCPS, you will have to move house to get to within 2km (1km would be the best). Therefore, the decision is really whether you want to buy / sell / move within a 1 year time frame. If you are not prepared to do so, then best to stick with KCPPS.
