You’ve had good advice but I just wanted to say, hang in there. I work in higher education, and at this level - and in life - it’s not always the quickest student who does the best in the end. Hang in there.

RE: 2022 P1 Registration Exercise for 2023 In-take
FWIW, it looks like the total no. of 2A1 + 2A2 for Rosyth has gone up gradually in recent years up to last year, but more and more people have moved from the 2A2 to 2A1 category (this is my guess based on the stats on the school website). Obviously it’ll be different next year. Housing around Rosyth is not that dense so I’d guess that there’s a decent chance to ballot >2km in 2A, but I think <1km in 2A is the only homerun.
Full disclosure: we moved <1km for Rosyth, but we were living much further away. I liked living in my former neighbourhood (much nearer to work) but it is nice for the kid to be able to walk to school every morning. -

Yes thanks for clarifying! We bought a new place within 1 km, but the vacant possession date is only in 2024 (too late for registration in 2021 for primary school in 2022), so we rented a place within 1 km last June and will stay there until the new place is ready. In our case, we were going to rent for the start of primary school in 2022 anyway, so not being able to use the address of our new place for P1 registration just meant that we started renting 6 months earlier than expected, which was not great but do-able. If you weren't planning to move until your new place was ready, you might not want to do the same thing.
If u’re renting officially, whilst waiting for TOP, u need to be within 1km for period of 30 mths. There shld not be an issue if u fulfil both location within 1km. The moving is not an issue, if yr child secure a P1 place within 1km, u’ve to fulfil both distance (1km) & duration (30 mths). You need to update yr i/c & inform the school. Hope it helps more than confuse. 😬 -

No...we really wanted to register our kid for a particular primary school near our new place, so we're renting near the new place/primary school, and will move when the new place is ready. We didn't want to risk not getting into the primary school if we stayed at our old place, not after we bought a place near it!
like the delay and cannot move in in time for the BTO ? so you going to try again and transfer your elder to the sch if you are able to use the new address. the trf is subject to availability right? -

We were in a similar situation this year. I wrote in to MOE and got a boilerplate answer basically repeating the information on the website. I didn't pursue it, but my impression was that it was extremely unlikely that MOE would allow us to use the new address just based on likely TOP (unless there are other reasons in play).
Hi KSP, I bought a property and the agent was mentioning TOP in 2023/2024. We only got to know the vacant possession date in S&P is in mid-2025.
According to the MOE website: The vacant or delivery possession date of the new property you are moving into must be within 2 years of your child’s entry into P1.
If based on the date in S&P, we are ineligible to use the new property address for the P1 registration. Can we appeal on the address? When will be the best time to do so? Is the registration must be finalized by the end of June 2023?
Please advise... Thank you! -

RE: All About Preparing For PSLE
I’m very far from PSLE, but just wanted to say, thanks for sharing! It’s useful to know what other parents do, on a day-to-day (or week-to-week) basis. I probably won’t follow your plan (mostly because it sounds like a lot of work for me :p) but it’s really useful to see your reasoning, and think through what I need/am willing to do for my kids. So thank you!

In any case. Good luck to all. It's the last day today for Phase 2C and for some the wait is over soon.
Unfortunately for some the wait carries on into Phase 2CS or even beyond.
Ultimately please remember not getting into the school of choice is not the end of the world.
Our education system is sound and there are no bad schools. We may rightly or wrongly think that some schools are better but ultimately it really depends on the child and parents as well.
I do have:
1) Nephews and nieces from Rosyth who scored 22x
2) Wife's ex-colleague's daughter from NYPS who scored 21x (after a lot of tuition)
3) Wife's nieces from neighborhood school and all 3 scored above 250.
So just remember, we tried our best for the school of choice and if we didn't get it, it's not the end of the world. Life moves on and cheer up!
Good luck everyone! -

Depends on the age of the kids I guess. If P1/2 kids need 10 hours of sleep, then they have to be asleep by 8 pm to be awake at 6 am, which is kinda hard for working parents. By the time I pick the kids up from childcare and get them home and fed and bathed and read to and tucked up in bed, that's 8 pm on a good day and often 8.30 pm instead (and then they often take a while to fall asleep). I could be more efficient of course, but still. If primary school starts at 8 am, then they could sleep at 9 pm and wake at 7 am, and still get 10 hours of sleep.
I understand the rationale for secondary school age students, since their circadian rhythm shifts after puberty.
For primary school though, it’s a matter of parents getting the kids to sleep early so that they get the doctors’ recommended #hours of sufficient sleep for their age.
I see DS’ classmates spamming the class chat with “anyone free to play XYZ game?” at 9pm, 10pm++ and then they turn up late to school the next day and fall asleep in class.[/quote]
