Definitely more checks are needed. Especially with our youths, imagine if the boy (the case where he was injected M instead of P) had a major reaction to it... a lot of parents will definitely hold off vaccination for their youths.[/quote]
Thot alr SOP established fr beginning for all waiting at front desk to produce i/c before the label print-out? At least that’s what we had to do when MIL & I did our vaccination & later same for DH. He just confirmed with me he did produce his NRIC for verification.

Think the boy himself hv to bear some responsibility for his own error in input of different year of his birth. 😏

        Bravo!!! 🦾 👏
Frankly, whether the decision is to vaccinate or un-vaccinate, I'm proud of the country's youths for being able to make educated and informed choices!!!
        👍 ✌️
I’m pleasantly proud of him & those who went ahead yday to kick-off vaccination for the youths! His buddy was in the news too!

100% (so far) against severe COVID-19 and hospitalisation (according to WHO) sounds pretty efficacious to me.

My DH also said we must keep an open mind about Sinovac.

As Sinovac has a decent record in the real world, like the Brazil’s town, Serrana you quoted. 95% drop in Covid deaths after almost all the adults were vaccinated with Sinovac as part of an experiment. At first DH thought Brazil should be quite gone case since they chose Sinovac.

Likewise, DH also thought Indonesia was doomed because they similarly chose Sinovac. But it turned out that 96% of their doctors and nurses do not need hospitalization after being vaccinated (and I’m pretty sure our hospitals have better hygiene standards than them!). Protection outside hospitals environment is 100% against death.

The 2nd thing that amazes DH is that , Sinovac based on killed virus technology, is effective against other variants! That is, Delta variant (B1617)!

Conclusion: We should look at the facts and statistics and not be biased against goods made in China.

Sinovac is highly effective against in real world study:

            https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-05-11/china-s-sinovac-shot-found-highly-effective-in-real-world-study

The Janssen (J&J) vaccine (approved for adults in U.S.) has a much lower efficacy (66%) vs. Pfizer/Moderna vaccines too. The J&J vaccine technology is not the same (viral vector or a different non-COVID-19 virus) as the Sinovac technology but I believe they are more similar (vs. the other technologies/options).

Point being when you tune out the differences related to manufacturer or country of origin and compare on similar vaccine design/technology, the results are closer (similar to what you are saying above).

I'm not sure if you can get a real life study of how the J&J vaccine has done. In the U.S. its use is mixed among Pfizer/Moderna, so you would need to find some individual country that has primarily used this vaccine. Also, no idea if the J&J vaccine will ever be approved here (not saying it should or shouldn't be).

...Covid vaccination appointment booking... we were fiddling, so

① If I were to input an NRIC under 18 years old, Moderna- vaccination centres are \"missing\"

② If I were to input an NRIC 18 years old or above, there is an extra check box under Patient Declaration and Consent: \"I confirm that the person receiving the vaccine is at least 18 years of age.\"

Glad to see more checks in place! We all need more of these to “protect” our youths.

Today, DS got his vaccination. He decided he wants he jab, having read extensively & his Science teachers sent reference guides during their National Science Challenge training. So, he went back to the stock of materials they hv assess from time to time. One of the early challenge was on covid virus.

Yday, the entire wanted to hear fr him if he’s sure he wants to take his vaccination now. Just before leaving with him, we asked him again & he seems annoyed like we sound not happy that he’s taking the vaccination or we’re trying to dissuade him. Not at all! Just want him to know what he’s doing. Quite proud he went online to do his own registration altho the link came to parents.

I noticed they check for his NRIC once seated & hes got to show his online appointment confirmation. At the front counter, they asked for his NRIC, Then asked him to confirm his full name, hp number, address & DOB. Finally, 2 sticker tabs were printed & he was asked to double check. I did ano “assurance” check. He left to Q for his jab. No idea if he was checked again before the needle goes in. He seems quite proud that he did it!

Now left one kay family member to go for jab.
Glad that your son had his vaccination done! You must be so proud of him!

Our healthcare system has been holding us up very well, and we shld hv girth to accord forgiveness & forbearance rather than ape the western in suing left/right/centre. We need to highlight & get things improved for all our fellow members under our airspace.

                        Stay united!
