Sad to know that
Too bad that they didnt release data on which age group
MOH released some vital figures on late Sat night.
They did a quick update on 652 community cases wef 28 April 2021. Among these cases, 71.9% were unvaccinated vs 18.9% vaccinated (ooh my earlier <20% guestimation's quite accurate!).
Of the 123 FULLY vaccinated(incl. 2-week-wait), 99.2% had no or mild symptoms. Only 1 required O2 support.
Among the 469 unvaccinated cases, 30 required O2 support, 6 in ICU, 3 deaths. They made up 8.3% of total cases studied.
Among the 60 cases with D1 & those D2 with < 2-week-wait, 91.7% had no or mild symptoms. 6.7% or 4 persons required O2 support and only 1 was in ICU.
In a nutshell, only 1 person or 0.8% among the vaccinated group required O2 support, while 8.3% among the unvaccinated group were cases that required O2 support, in ICU or died.

Too bad we have a lot of South Asians. But thank God our approved vaccines are quite effective against delta, the sneaky, notti, spiky little prick! :pokeeye:.zeit\" post_id=\"2026193\" time=\"1622792231\" user_id=\"171271:
Both Bahrain & UAE are going to mix 2-dose traditional vaccines with 3rd mRNA booster shots for their less protected residents against new mutants. The variant that CoronaVac was testing/fighting against in Serrana was P1 (gamma), not B.1617.2 (delta). Delta variant we see here is apparently more transmissible than gamma. It has reached a new high of 81.5% in the past 4 weeks in Singapore (No 1 per Gisaid ranking). So we can't compare apples with oranges.
Indonesia, which also uses CoronaVac, had reported 3 strains - alpha, beta & delta in early May. To date, they only have 32 delta cases (0.0x% per Gisaid record) vs SG's 358 cases (81.5%).
To be fair, we may have to watch Guangzhou closely. However, GZ's sample size's too small. Just 17 delta cases had been found, quarantined or blocked at the borders, so it's hard to see the real efficacy of whatever the Guangzhou residents were jabbed with.

...Are we there yet? What happens if the U.S. can't reach herd immunity. 05 June 2021
...Herd immunity is often seen as the end game of the COVID-19 pandemic. This threshold is reached when the virus cannot easily spread because most people have built up immunity through vaccination or natural infection...
Experts estimate that we’ll reach herd immunity for COVID-19 when 65 to 80 percent of the population is vaccinated...
Amid a swirl of misinformation, distribution issues, and legitimate hesitancy, as of June 3, only 51 percent of Americans have received at least one shot, and just 41 percent are fully vaccinated...
In December, White House advisor Anthony Fauci even suggested herd immunity might require vaccinating up to 90 percent of the population...

Thank you for the interesting charts.
https://www.moh.gov.sg/docs/librariesprovider5/pressroom/press-releases/annex-5-jun.pdf
For Figure 3, I am pleasantly surprised to see that
91.7% of the non-vaccinated folks are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms versus 99.2% of those who are vaccinated.
Next I observed is, those who receive only 1st dose, also at 91.7%, it is as good as not being vaccinated.
Maybe our MOH can conduct a study to better understand why in Singapore, even among non-vaccinated ones, 91.7% have no or only mild symptoms. -

I wonder whether it has something to do with the high numbers/frequency of testing that we do in SG.
Thank you for the interesting charts.emoh\" post_id=\"2026342\" time=\"1622962396\" user_id=\"10618:

Do other countries test as aggressively as SG?
If SG runs a disproportionate number of tests on regular citizens, then surely a large number of asymptomatic cases are going to show up? In other countries that do not test, such pax would be completely undetected unless they have more severe symptoms & show up at hospitals begging for help. -
