Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Thank you everyone for the advice. My reason of picking NC is because very near and because of the Chinese standard which is why I thought of trying. I am not really a risk taker so was thinking of going for 2A2 at Chongfu. But looking at the distance, i am also going to think twice cause everyone has been telling me it’s very far.
Right now our childcare is not anywhere near Sengkang too so everyday we will commute from Sengkang to the east for her preschool.
So now everything is depending on luck if we are seeking for a transfer after the selection… -

It is very near home so it is convenient. But if fail at 2C, may end up in a not so near SK school (SK is quite big right?). So I would go for another SK school within 1km that doesn’t need balloting at 2C. Assuming there exists one or 2 of them in this category -

Despite what I said earlier, Anchor Green should be safe for SC < 1km at Phase 2C. If MK takes away 50 places at Phase 2A2, there could be ~ 50 to 70 places for 2C. Most likely end up ballot for SC > 2km or for PR.

I think the assumption that NCPS has very high Chinese standards is due to all students starting with HCL at P1. -
To the masters in the forum,
I read here that it is possible to transfer our children to our school of our choice when they reach P2 if we failed during the P1 registration.
What are the requirements for such transfers at P2?
Thank you! -

Transfer is always possible and you will need luck, and lots of it. Everyone who didn’t make it at the ballot, and many who didn’t even attempt at 2C, will be thinking about the same thing / option especially if it’s a popular school.

Requirements for Transfer at end of P2, will of course depend on which primary school you attempt to Transfer your child into.

If you are seeking Transfer into those popular GEP / SAP primary schools, then these schools' demand are usually high (\"yao qiu hen gao\").
Why ?
Because
they have no lack of applicants (suitors) submitting Transfer form, into their SAP / GEP centre.
Every year,
mountain piled-up high Transfer Application forms poured into these high popular schools.
The Total number of Transfer Application forms received
far exceed
the Total number of vacancies available.
Thus, the school can \" cherry pick\" , from the big pool of Transfer candidates available.
Eg
My friend's son attempted Transfer from a primary neighbourhood school in Ang Mo Kio, to Rosyth primary, a GEP centre. Every year, from P1 to End of P4, my friend \"refreshed\" her submission form, to seek Transfer. In the end, did not even hear from Rosyth at all, throughout the 4 years of Transfer forms submitted so far.
The same thing applied, to another friend's daughter, who attempted Transfer, into co-ed Nanyang primary (SAP + GEP centre). No news from Nanyang at all, inspite of earnestly \"refreshed\" their Transfer Application form submitted faithfully, each year.
In contrast, another friend's son seeked Transfer into Yu Neng primary. He got the transfer, very fast ! -
Thanks for all your inputs, very useful. I hope we will just be lucky enough to get into the sch of our choice this coming registration…sigh

Any parents have children studying in Ai Tong, Nanyang or Nan Hua? Can i know what are your sentiments about these popular top schools on your kids?

Can anyone advise? Bukit Panjang Primary vs West Spring Primary? Which is better?

Bukit Panjang easier to ballot in at <1km. Or just ballot the most convenient.
