Just out of curiosity…were your parents the main caregivers to your nieces? Did the grandkids grow up speaking really loudly?

My DS has a super loud voice (despite our plenteous reminders to lower his volume when we are just sitting next to him). I wonder whether this habit is linked somehow to having to shout to Grandma during his earlier years.

My parents weren't the main caregivers, and only my mum spent a lot of time with them. And that would have been quite a few years ago. But they, and my nephew, are all quite loud anyway! I don't think it's got anything to do with shouting at grandparents (the other grandparents were very involved too, and didn't need to be shouted at). I think it's just that they live in a big house, and were spoiled by too many adults in their lives, none of whom wanted to be disciplinarians. If someone didn't like the noise, they would just separate the kids.

Actually, I think school is where kids learn to shout loudly. The level of noise in the average school classroom is quite high, and noise in canteens is worse! Maybe less so since Covid. I recall having to institute inside/outside voices and constantly remind them when they were in Pr school.

My older daughter just got her booking link for Covid vaccination last night, and got an appointment at Buona Vista CC this morning. The 2nd place in the list was Radin Mas CC, so Moderna is definitely the best bet for early appointments. The nearest CC’s earliest slot was 19 July! The 2nd dose is 6 weeks later. My husband has kindly offered to send and fetch her (hardhearted mother was considering her letting her take bus both ways as it’s quite near, or only fetching her after the jab!)

I thought I read somewhere that either Grab or Gojek is offering free ride to and fro vaccination centre?

Didn’t know about the free rides, and anyway, my husband is working from home now. It’s only a 15-min round-trip - can count as a mid-morning break! I was prepared for her to take a bus - there’s a direct bus and it’s only a few bus stops away.

Do U ever have neighbors throwing glass bottles directly down the rubbish chute? It’s obvious from the breaking glass sounds reverberating from top to bottom of the chute that the bottle is not wrapped in a bag at all.

I find it extremely dangerous, what if neighbors below happened to open the chute at that moment, can be injured by the broken glass…and how about the cleaners who have to clean out the bottom of the chute!!!

Yes, even if throw glass items in a plastic bag down the rubbish chute, it is still dangerous.

Today is super hot and sunny.
Looking forward to eating hot and spicy laksa tmr 🙂

I usually triple bag glass bottles. Especially if messy like kaya or sauce bottles.

If empty drink bottles, I will wash them out & bring down to the recycling bin.

I also rinse out the kaya or sauce bottles and recycle. If you fill with hot water, it will clean up easily.

We been eating mala suanla these 2 days. Earlier I ate fried sweet potato balls just after frying so had my ulcers for few days.

Oh yes, some just throw bottles down without bag. So usually I will just prepare the rubbish bag, quickly open chute, throw and close. Need to hold my breath everytime open so got to be fast.
