Me Time!

Do U ever have neighbors throwing glass bottles directly down the rubbish chute? It’s obvious from the breaking glass sounds reverberating from top to bottom of the chute that the bottle is not wrapped in a bag at all.
I find it extremely dangerous, what if neighbors below happened to open the chute at that moment, can be injured by the broken glass…and how about the cleaners who have to clean out the bottom of the chute!!! -

Yes, even if throw glass items in a plastic bag down the rubbish chute, it is still dangerous.

I usually triple bag glass bottles. Especially if messy like kaya or sauce bottles.
If empty drink bottles, I will wash them out & bring down to the recycling bin. -

I also rinse out the kaya or sauce bottles and recycle. If you fill with hot water, it will clean up easily.

We been eating mala suanla these 2 days. Earlier I ate fried sweet potato balls just after frying so had my ulcers for few days.
Oh yes, some just throw bottles down without bag. So usually I will just prepare the rubbish bag, quickly open chute, throw and close. Need to hold my breath everytime open so got to be fast. -

Me too, open quickly and throw. Still kenah the awful smell. But so far never kenah hit by rubbish from upstairs.
Ever kenah splashed with water cos cleaners happened to be spray washing the whole chute with water hose. Actually I prefer some places that fumigate the whole chute rather than just plain water. Water does not kill the cockroaches. But fumigation costs more & MCST need to give advance warning like which day of the month they gonna fumigate. Then we have to tape up the chute area to prevent the fumes leaking into kitchen.
I have learnt to ask contractor to specially make concealment carpentry with door to box up the chute area. Keeps the usual smells out. -
That’s one of the good things about a newer flat (we moved into this one in 1999) - the chutes are outside, not inside. No smells or cockcroaches in my kitchen! I had a chute in my kitchen in my previous flat and I remember those days, especially the days I forgot that the chutes would be fumigated, and came home after work and saw the mess!
