Try looking online? Here's an article:

I don't have a child with reflux, but my husband had a fairly serious bout a few years ago. Try some of the lifestyle changes - looking for foods that might be a trigger, or eating smaller meals, posture after meals, etc. The medication will be good to get things normalised for now, so that she can start from a good base and hopefully won't need to be on medication long-term. Since you and your husband also suffer from it, you will be able to help her with the lifestyle modifications.

Hi all, I took my soon-to-be 4 yr old girl to kkh for ENT appt today because she has this throat clearing habit and has been going on for months. Dr did a scope today and showed me her swollen throat entrance. He says it is reflux. So she was prescribed omeprazole for 2-4 weeks.

My husband and I have reflux, and I am very concerned if this will be a chronic problem for her and if this is normal for kids this young. I am miserable with my reflux and I wouldn’t want this on my young child. I mean, i know babies get reflux and then outgrow it, but kids at 4, I’ve not come across.

I’m also curious what could cause this. Milk? Food? Speed of eating? Bottle drinking? Supplements, vitamins? Or any suggestions what I should be trying out to help it? Anyone here with youngster with reflux? Anyone tried any alternative treatment; tcm, holistic etc?

Do drop some suggestions, I don’t wish for her to be on long term medication. 🙏🏽
Milk shld not cause reflux problem. It’ll in fact line the stomach & protect it fr acidity. Avoid exposing her to any sour or acid food.

Try to maintain a household with a spirit of calmness & not control or calm anxieties in your girl. Find a way to reduce rush. I used to hv very bad refluxes & feels miserable all the time, like you did. By introducing calmness in my life, I’ve averted daily awlful refluxes without medication for the last 15 years. Hope your girl gets better & your family’s health improves.

Yup it’s true that stress adds on to the severity of GERD, I’m a living example. With Wfh, i actually calmed down quite alot but still have reflux la, but for the small girl, she’s pretty happy go lucky, so I wouldnt know if she’s having too much stress… she also complains of persistent stomachache (wind), so we make her sit on the toilet till she clears her tummy.

I’ve been through quite a few scopes and polyp removal myself and Im not even 50, Im wondering if she will need to go for an endoscopy too if this persists. My elder boy doesn’t have this problem; i wonder if it is because he eats like a bird - super slow. Do kids get reflux for the same reasons as adults? Because I certainly hope it isn’t due to a structural problem.
