...Though dd prefer H2 Arts than Econs as a contrasting subj, but heard that the timetable for certain subject combi will be off & quite unfavourable. So is it more feasible to take the more general subject combi than interest?...

\"Interest has the power to transform struggling performers, and to lift high achievers to a new plane\"

Lol! It's true \"interest\" conquers all. But I worry the timetable will be neither here nor there for H2 Arts; in the end everyday time is wasted in between the breaks just to wait for \"interest\" lesson start late afternoon.
Even for my gal with regular timetable her cca starts from 5-830 so she needs to wait and wait too.

My understanding is that Maths is pegged somewhere in between our times Maths C and F Maths. The current standard F Maths is much higher than our times. And becoz of the requirement of one contrasting subject, very few people choose F Maths. Most courses in NUS or NTU do not require F Maths.
Also, for H3 Maths, not every teacher can confidently say that he or she can do all the A Levels questions.

Hi Imp75, your elder dd in JC 1 right? How's she coping in HC? May I ask what's her subj combi & CCA? Is the life in HCJC as hectic as NYGH? Or more hectic? How's her school curriculum hours like?

She's doing PCME like most regular students, no specials. Switched from sports to performing arts, so was bz with SYF earlier on, now took up leadership pos. Work is definitely more fast-paced in JC. NYGH definitely a breeze in comparison. I may be wrong but I think she's placed in the \"top\" PCME class (last year her MSG was 1.2) she said everyone is so smart lol..
Wow! Haha. Everyone is so smart and your dd is smart too! Your dad's PCME - 4H2 or 3 H2 & Econs (H1)? How many classes are there for PCME and normal lesson ends at what time? Didn't know the cca can start so late.. :nailbite: so really not a breeze šŸ˜“

I don't know about her timetable or no of PCME (4H2) classes. Pre HBL, we fetch at 630 everyday. On cca days she comes back herself after 9pm.

Typically, the Top 20% students for the subject are offered H3 for that subject.

                  how do you define \"Top 20% \" ?

                  Is this Top 20%

based on the entire JC1 cohort 's in their end-of-year-JC1
                  \"Overall\" 4H2 results combined

                  OR

                  Is it
                  Top 20%, within \"each individual \" H2 subject (Econs / Chemistry / Physics ),
regardless of whatever subject combination been taken ?

It is top 20% for the subject, plus overall results must achieve MSG of 2.5 and below.
Thank you very much, masteringalevelsphysics, for clarification. Appreciated

Out of close to 1200+ ( JC1 ) students, per batch,
                  roughly,
                  how many students do

                  4H2 PCME

                  vs.

                  (3H2 PCM + H1 Econs ) ?

More students tend to end up

                  ( doing 4H2 PCME or
                  doing 3H2+H1 Econs ) ,
                  per batch ?

I feel her life is hectic as pre-covid, she finishes at 6 plus after CCA and 4 plus on most other days. To me this seems very long. But I read tour post and realise JC CCA finishes after 8pm so maybe in comparison, nygh is a breeze!

Suddenly very glad I was born in earlier era. Lol.
