Good qn. I am also pondering about backup plan.... :lightrod:
Reason for NYPS - my younger one is a boy. So if jie jie gets in, my di di can get a chance to qualify for sibling.
If NYPS no go...according to MOE, it seems that they will then send my daughter to another primary school with vacancy, meaning that I would have moved to the <1km location for nothing because if NYPS no go, the rest of the schools are out as well.
Only 1 chance.
very underrated school

It's definitely a decent school with good Christian values, and like someone mentioned earlier, I also feel it is underrated. However,I am not sure it is a \"sure in\" school at Phase 2Cs, a friend's daughter was balloted out two years ago at Phase 2Cs, am guessing since a within 1km address of NYP will be more than 2km away from St Margaret's.

Balloting doesn’t work this way. It priorities by distance so highly likely all who stays within 2km fr sngs will get in. Leaving behind very few vacancies for those who stays >2km to ballot. Worst case scenario would be balloting within 1-2km and >2km don’t even have a chance to ballot
My understanding from my #1 is that they have quite a number of classmates with SG50 meimeis that are registering this year.xyun08\" post_id=\"2028990\" time=\"1625241672\" user_id=\"128943:
So disheartened to see results after Phase 1. Any parents registering for St nicks . I saw that this year 93 applied under Phase 1(up from last year 69, I think on average last few years is 60 range ). This year shoot up to 93?!!
Means phase 2A1 only left 77 vacancies …. Sigh how slim the chance for >2km. Still shocked by the figure this year.
It was already expected that there will be 2A1 balloting this year: if there are 90+ 2A1 applicants this year, then the chances are success is still around 80+%.
Just keep an eye on the final 2A1 vacancies when it gets updated on the 6th. -

https://stmargaretspri.moe.edu.sg/
Big thanks for the resource. Got to admit, this P1 registration thing is stressful and I was gunning (praying actually!) for NYPS mainly because I also hope to avoid another P1 dilemma by securing the sibling advantage. With St Margaret, I got to go another round for my son later. But if really cannot make it due to this over-subscribed situation, got to bend and pivot accordingly. Whew... :slapshead: -

I like that it is co-ed and if my kids can study well (lol), maybe HCI can be the way to go later as I probably going to invest in living in that Bt Timah area. -
SMPS balloted for PR > 2km last year. With a cap being placed on PR at a number of schools, e.g. BTPS, MCS and OEPS, in Phase 2C, I believe many of them will be looking for alternatives. If SMPS isn't located in a (rather rundown) temporary school, it would have been a very attractive option. That said, it won't be long before they are back to a newly renovated campus and I doubt SMPS will have many (if any) places left for Phase 2CS.
I see. Thanks for the clarification. Btw is St Margaret's consider a good school?

NHPS, ACSP, ACSJ, SJIJ……all flocking to BTPS. No wonder why the recent trend is balloting at 2CS >2km for BTPS. See here:
