On the dateline of PV application, will the school prioritize interview for parents (or even shortlist parents) living closer to the school? I am asking this because the application form requires me to fill in my existing residential address.

As I intend to move my house to <1km to the school in 2022 or early 2023, does it affect my chances of becoming a PV for the school of my interest?

No two schools approach the issue of PV in the same manner. Without knowing which school you are looking at, it's not possible to answer your question definitively.

Will the school prioritise interview for parents (or even shortlist parents) living closer to the school? The answer is yes, maybe, no.

For a school that has a history of balloting < 1km for Phase 2B, chances are that the school will only consider PV < 1km from the school. I believe most PV candidates living beyond 1km will probably say the same thing to the selectors: if you choose me, I will move to within 1km. However, if the school only needs traffic warden, marshalers, general helpers etc, i.e. no special skills required, the school probably doesn't need to entertain anyone living beyond 1km to fill up their quota, especially if they have more than enough candidates to choose from.

However, if you have a unique talent that the school desperately needs, it's possible that you will be considered even though you are not living within 1km currently.

Hi Floppy, thank you for your detailed response. I am actually looking at Keming Primary School. Do you have any idea about what kind of PV does Keming Primary School need and how difficult is it to become a PV?

My understanding is that not all schools have Parent Volunteer program. Is there a list of schools which have PV program?

Just wondering why do u need a list of school got PV. U shld b more specific on ur choice rather than relying on PV. If u stay in the west and there are school with PV, dun think u will apply for it also. U shld have some schools in mind and narrow down to which schools have PV.

hi, anyone here registered for PV with PLMGS for their 2016 girl too? any news? was informed that the result will only be out in end Jul but am a bit worried as they don’t usually recruit many PV and seems like they’ve further cut down the numbers with Covid.

For 2015 kids, the school didn’t do the PV selection until much later. Due to covid they didn’t have any activities for PV. Only in early 2021 they had a gardening project and selected some PVs (No idea how many).

The website mentioned that only those shortlisted people will be called for interview.
But if no news until when then only I should move on to other school?

Hi…am a parent who has a YR 2015 daughter doing P1 registration this year. Just curious? any same year parent who was admitted for RGPS PV? The acceptance date was around 28 Feb 2020 I believe . Timing around time when Covid just started. Just curious to anticipate the likely 2B this year. Thanks!
