SNGS has 121 applicants fighting for 77 vacancies.

Scuttlebuttt has it that there are 65 applicants (>2km) vying for 21 vacancies, meaning 44 applicants will be ultimately unsuccessful

Has there been 2A(1) odds as low as this before?

Hard to know with certainty because there wasn’t any breakdown in distance in the past.

In terms of odds, 121 applicants for 77 places in Phase 2A(1) is definitely a record.

In terms of number of applicants, NYPS’ 148 in 2018 is still a record.

Record has been broken this year. NYPS 150 this year.

We are knock out from 2A2 at NYPS . Question now is RGPS worth a shot for less than 2km . Anyone with a view . Also how do we know if the balloting for greater than 2 km or less than 1 km . Thanks in advance for advise
Are you looking at 2A2 or 2B or 2C?

MOE will announce the balloting distance when they give the final update.

You left out two other schools
            Horizon, Riverside.

If this year’s numbers hold for 2023 onwards, Phase 2A2 in future is seriously going to be super jialat and ballot all over the place because of MK.

As we are left with 2c within 1 km of NYPS , shud we consider 2c RGPS since we are within 2km . Reason being RGPS has more vacancy . But if balloting within 1KM like last year for RGPS then we have no choice e but to stay put in 2C NYPS

Not yet analyse the MK schools in totality but my recollection of Horizon and Riverside is that both were MK last year as well.

Update post : Horizon MK took in K1 in 2020, so should expect an increase in 2A2 this year. Waterway, Oasis increased ard 60-70 due to MK. so could be possible to have balloting situation at Horizon at 2A2.

While it means some school will go into balloting due to MK, the oods may not be as bad as 2C when places become more scarce, the entry into MK already have spilt hair distance into 500m interval plus priority for those with siblings in MK or Primary. The fight zone is actually 2C when places are limited.

Anyway Rulang maybe be around 2-3X and temasek around 3-4X oversubscribed. With limited alternative in 2A2, folks will still enrol and try.

Hi, the school that I am trying to register my son in requires balloting. I am worried I may not get him into that school. I am an old girl from another primary school. If I fail to register him in my ala mata in phase 2A2, can I still register him in phase 2B? Or it’ll have to be phase 2C?
Your post is abit unclear. Is the school you are trying to register for your son is also your ala mater?

If you are not successful in phase 2A2, you are free to go for 2B (provided you qualify for this phase) and 2C.

2c as 2a2 no more for nyps. we are 1km of nyps . shud we consider 2c of rgps instead if ballot is for more than 2km for rgps than we will shift application tto rgps as the probabily for nyps is low.

                      Some parameter for your digestion:

                      2019 - 113 stayed within 2km
                      2020- at least 77 stayed within 1km.

If the take up in 2a2 and 2b this year is similar to last year, vacancy for 2C will be around 100-110. That range seem to suggest balloting 1-2km unless even more ppl shift within 1km after last year result. Just a guess.

NYPS odds is ard 3-4X applicants per vacancy.
