All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Hi all. Newbie here.
I would like to ask for Nanyang primary school, when will we get the notification about the interview call for PV?
The website mentioned that only those shortlisted people will be called for interview.
But if no news until when then only I should move on to other school?
Thank you for reply.
Stay safe. -

hi, anyone here registered for PV with PLMGS for their 2016 girl too? any news? was informed that the result will only be out in end Jul but am a bit worried as they don’t usually recruit many PV and seems like they’ve further cut down the numbers with Covid.

oh my…crossing my fingers then. For 2015 kids, the school didn’t do the PV selection until much later. Due to covid they didn’t have any activities for PV. Only in early 2021 they had a gardening project and selected some PVs (No idea how many).

Hi…am a parent who has a YR 2015 daughter doing P1 registration this year. Just curious? any same year parent who was admitted for RGPS PV? The acceptance date was around 28 Feb 2020 I believe . Timing around time when Covid just started. Just curious to anticipate the likely 2B this year. Thanks!

Some info that maybe useful for you. The current year take up rate until 2A1 is 28 less than last year. If 2A2 applicants stay in the 20s, there should be ard 14 extra vacancies in 2B (total in the region of 60s) as compared to last year

There were only one instances when balloting was needed in 2B for RGPS, in 2011. Roughly around 48 applicants for around 40 spots. The most number of applicants in 2B for RGPS was in 2010, around 60. For the past 3 years, applicants for 2B was under 30 each year
I think if you are eligible for 2B for RGPS, you are quite safe. -
I do know the latest results. But given last year is an abnormality even the drop in take up doesn’t make me feel comfortable tbh. I’m in 2c not 2b so was wondering if anybody got into 2b. If not then more places for 2c. Not sure if previous years I.e. are reflective. Heard last year >130 to 140 within 1km. If that keeps up then quite 😧

I don’t have the number, I am not sure anyone has the breakdown.

It’s reasonable to think that some folks may shift within 1km after last year result.
The problem is when a lot of ppl make the same move, it increases the competition.
Actually instead of predicting how many will enrol that are within 1km, you shd plan your own move and ask yourself:
Are you within 1km of RGPS?
Will you still go for balloting if balloting is needed?
Do you have alternative in 2C or you already able to enrol in earlier phase for other schools?
Is your backup choice in 2Cs safe for you?
Last year some unsuccessful folks in RGPS and SCGS went to Marymount in 2Cs and cause another crazy enrollment number. At the end of the day, can you bear with the risk? You can only control your own move and your calculated move. -
Hi Lexy,
Good to see a familiar nickname. -

2B folks would also include GRLs. So even if you manage to find out the no. of PVs (u can probably ask the school directly to get the quickest & most accurate answer), who knows how many GRLs would turn up (and I doubt PA will tell you the numbers).

These are things which are out of your control, even if you know the number. U can only plan for the worst case scenario, which is balloting <1km. So think carefully about your strategy like Lexy suggested.
How risk averse are you? Would you rather grab a guaranteed place in another girls school like SMPS or MCS at phase 2C? Or you don’t mind going thru ballot at 2C then another possible round of ballot at 2CS? -
Hello! I am not sure if anyone has asked this before but if we qualify for PV for school A and don’t get it, would we be able to change our address after phase 2B and try for school B in phase 2C?
