For those of you whose daughters are SC staying beyond 2 km & unluckily got balloted out of Phase 2A (1) this morning, since balloting results have come out (released),

        if you are a Catholic,

may proceed to enrol your daughter into another CHIJ primary school that still have vacancies under the next Phase, 2B.

Marymount Convent primary is also safe
under Phase 2C (open to public), for SC girls (kids) staying more than 2 km, from Marymount.

Those balloted-out-of-luck-2A (1) alumni parents can

        1)
        submit Your Wait-list Application form

        \" AFTER \"
the entire P1 registration exercise is over.
        No need to submit now

        because

It is not a \"first come first served\".

2A (1) phase balloting has just ended, with 2A (2) by-passed this year, but still got remaining phases (2B + 2C) to proceed with.

        2)

As St Nick is a hot, popular school, in the event no vacancies arise in P1, you may consider Transfer at the end of Primary 2,

        because

when students move up from P2 into P3,
more seats (vacancies) arise through the re-shuffling of P2 classes (set at 30 students, per class) into P3 classes (around 40 students, per class).

Thanks for the info. I am one of those unsuccessful in the ballot . For the wait list is there a form to fill in coz from their website I only see a waitlist transfer form which seems to be more for P3 transfer as it has sections for results and current school .

Or we can email the school directly and ask to be in waitlist . One of my friends called tk ask and their reply was transfer at P3.

If I am not wrong, waitlist only open up after the end of phase 2C or 2Cs. And the waitlist intake is for a limited period. There were instances where others received call from St Nick asking if they are still keen to take up the available slot (as they were on waitlist). The call happened after he/she gotten uniforms from the school that the child had enrolled in (sometime in Nov/Dec). Perhaps you could reach out to the school regarding waitlist after the end of phase 2C. All the best !

When is St Nick \" full \" house ?

By the end of Phase 2C !

St Nick no need to participate in Phase 2C \"Supplementary\", because she already \"full house\", by the end of 2C, no more seat left !

              This means that
after Phase 2C has ended, give a call to GO, ask them for the Wait-list form.

              But,
note that you won't be the only one submitting this form,

              because

many others who have also been

              - balloted out, at Phase 2A1 +

              - balloted out, at Phase 2B +

              - balloted out, at Phase 2C (those SC < 1 km) +

              - any others who never even applied for St Nick, in the first case. Yes, even though they have already enrolled their daughter into some other primary school, yet they are still keen & eyeing on St Nick. Some parents try to \"sell\" their daughter's strength,

              Example

Their daughter very good (excel) in gymnastics, because their daughter been trained well during past kindergarten (K1 + K2) days. As you know, gymnastics Cca is one of the \"highly favoured upon\" Cca, inside St Nick

              Yes,
these 4 group of parents will also be submitting the same Wait-list form, as well !

              See,
even though P1 registration had ended for St Nick, in terms of \"already full house, by the end of Phase 2C\", still, there is a lot of competition going on, fighting inside the \"Wait list \".

              Now,
              during this time period,
from the last day of Phase 2C registration ended until the first day of next new academic year 2022 Primary 1, two possible scenario can take place.

              A)
if any enrolled pupil were to un-expectedly withdraw from St Nick, transfer out to another primary school, thereby creating / thus giving rise to vacancy, the school Principal will then decide, at her own discretion, now, who to offer this vacancy to ?

Please don't ask how St Nick Principal, based on what criteria, is she going to offer the vacancy to, inside the Wait-list ?

              because

only she (Principal) herself knows !

Moreover, Principal is not obliged to disclose / divulge reasons, because officially, the entire Primary 1 registration exercise has already ended, is finished, over !

              B)
              if no student withdraw,
means no vacancy created, it still remain as \"full house\" status,
so no action will be taken on the high pile of \"Wait-list\" forms submitted (received).

              =======================

              Your next question,
in the event throughout the entire one whole year of Primary 1, from P1 (January to October Term 4 ), still no vacancy arose, so should you seek Transfer, at the end of Primary (2 or 3) ?

Of course, the earlier you come in, the better !

              Reasons ?

              - P2 moving up to P3, is the time period when \"most\" vacancies arise,

because this is when we re-shuffled
P2 classes (set at 30 students, per class)
into P3 classes (become 40+ students, per class)

In fact, for several past batches, we have seen so many end-of-P2 students joining our school St Nick, via \"Transfer in\" cases.
These new girls started their P3 journey with us. They transferred in, from several schools, like

              1) within the same CHIJ family
eg. CHIJ (Toa Payoh, Nativity, OLGC, Kellock, Katong)

              2) within the family of SAP schools

Eg. Ai Tong, NYPS girls, Chongfu, Nan Hwa, Nan Chiau, Pei Chun

              3) within the family of GEP schools
              Eg. Rosyth, Rgps, Nan Hwa

              4) other neighbourhood schools, in Singapore.
              E.g.

( Ang Mo Kio, Mayflower, Yishun, Woodlands, Marymount, etc. ) primary

Of course, you can also seek Transfer in, at the end of P3.

              But,
do bear in mind that by end of P3, not many seats are left, because the vacancies have been \"snapped up\" hotly by demand, at the end of P2 transfer.

St Nick only have Total six (P3 to P6) classes, per level. 6 classes, is really not a lot !

Those who attempt to seek Transfer in at the end of P3, one year later after their P2 have ended, will need to wait for those St Nick P3 students offered GEP programme to transfer out of St Nick first, before vacancies can arise, then \"absorb\" them in for Transfer to replace them, at the end of their P3.

If you come in at end of P2, then is \"the early bird that catches the worm\" scenario,

              because

end-of-P2 got the highest number of vacancies arising for Transfer , in the midst of re-shuffling, moving up from P2 into P3, where the head-count per class, where the delta change increased the most ! Many P2 parents from external, outside schools eagerly grabbed these vacancies !

              And

do you want to know many vacancies arise, at the end of Primary 2 ?

              close to 30 vacancies !

30, enough to form one extra new class, on its own !

I am just wondering, with a year on year balloting at phase 2A1, will we foresee an influx of parents moving to within <1 km or 1-2 km in the coming years?
There already is an influx. Once u have a 2nd or 3rd daughter born, it’s pretty much a no-brainer to move house.

Yes, there are a number of people I know who are applying next or the following year to SNGS, i.e. kids in K1 or earlier, are now looking for places <1km from the school.

Personally, I would advise against buying a house just for a chance to ballot, especially if they have other good alternative schools to choose from.

Thank you Zac’s mum and floppy, it would be very scary indeed if balloting at even phase 2A1 moves up to <2km at this rate :xedfingers: :([/quote]I think the trend is moving in that direction so much so that the question is not if but when this (balloting for within 2km for 2A(1) ) happens.

While that may be the case, I doubt it will be next year. Next year is unlikely to see the same bump to Phase 1 and there should be a little more slack for Phase 2A1.

The concern, however, is what changes the G will make to P1 registration exercise. If, as expected, they are going to take away a couple more seats from Phase 2A for 2C, the situation may well remain the same as this year.

This year is SG50 boomer batch. Next year SG51 would be equally hot. If MOE starts to reserve more places for 2B and 2C, then balloting will naturally squeeze down to 2A1 at 1-2km.
