      Thank you!
Strange I can't seem to find any details about Raffles SO. Sooo mysterious.. 😂
      Hi,

The invitation letter that your child got from school will usually have a contact person. Do give that person a call to inquire about the scope and format. Or you can try contacting your child's Science teacher (though not all teachers are in the loop about competitions) or HOD Science.

      All the best.

SPSO is over. Any feedback from your kids?

My personal feeling from what my girl told me is
SPSO = Science vocabulary + logic + some science knowledge (usually within the primary syllabus)

Hey guys, what is the answer to the last question (the dance duration, speed, and the angle of dancing question for the cookies thing)? I put All of the above, Option A.

My gal received the certificate of participation for Raffles Science Olympiad. It says Participation for outstanding achievement in the Raffles Science Olympiad 2021. I know she didn’t win any award or medals but does the ‘outstanding achievement’ mean anything or is it a standard cert for all others? Haha

As of a couple of years ago, it only said \"Participation\" so not sure. BTW, when did you receive the results? Just today/yesterday?

May I know how your children got invited by their school to take part in Science Olympiads?

Eg do all the kids in the top 1 or 2 classes get the invitation? Or only some of the kids? Is it based on their P4 Science overall results do u think?

I'm not entirely sure. I think RSO was limited to five entrants per school, so probably some combination of P4 results and observations from E2K (although this was largely shutdown last in 2020/P4).

Not \"Olympiads\" but my girl's school also entered a couple of groups (maybe 10-12 total students) for the Singapore Youth Science Festival Fair (this is more an experiment/presentation than straight written test questions) and another more hands on competition (I'm not sure exactly what this one was, as they could only send two students and mine was not selected). For these, I think selection may also be based on some activities/workings in the Science CCA club, as a couple of kids in this CCA tend to be pretty active with things like the Sony Creative Science Toy-Making competition and other non-curriculum stuff. I.e. not just the exam results but looking for which students have interest, creativity, etc.

Her school did not send anyone to SPSO, so I'm not sure how that one works right now.
