      so far,
seems like only those infected schools closed.
Not all schools across the whole nation closed.[/quote]
Closing all schools will be overkill. Imagine if we closed all the workplaces of all the infected people’s family members until MOM gives go-ahead? Overkill right?

My office building (which houses hundreds of companies) has had a handful of separate infected cases since Covid started. Each time, it was only that particular company that closed for a 1-day cleaning while close contacts were isolated. The rest of the building could return to work (if they wished) the very next day.

Those who feared, could stay home and WFH.

So if you fear for your child, just excuse them from school. Dunno until when though. Homeschool?

Adults are the one have all knowledge in protecting themselves. Why they have option to wfh but children don’t have?

Not all children have private vehicles go to school. I don’t think toilet cubicle’s usage is based on student’s registered number. They are the ones having the longest life and future and we don’t know how so much about the long covid as of now.

Children can't learn as well at home (children with high motivation and good support are not the majority), and it hampers social and physical development too. And few transmissions happen in school or public transport. Frankly, I feel that many workers don't work well at home either, but that's just work and doesn't affect their future lives as much. And having children at home is hard for parents who are also trying to WFH, or worse, are workers who can't WFH. In fact, I feel that schoolchildren are privileged that the authorities are prioritising keeping schools open, while keeping workplaces shut.

I am more in sympathy with the view that we need to tip the balance of measures over to letting the vaccinated have more freedom, and telling the unvaccinated to take greater precautions. The young unvaccinated don't suffer very seriously, so it's a minority who will suffer serious illness. Close contacts can be asked to self-isolate for a few days and self-test, but no need to have the 4 rings etc., or shut down schools, markets, malls and workplaces.

Prolonged HBL is not feasible. Unless all parents can teach the school syllabus while their kids stuck at home for the next 3 years? 5 years? 8 years?

HBL is very disruptive, even for my secondary school kids, not to mention for those in primary school.

If a kid has affiliation to a good secondary school then maybe won’t feel so stressed for PSLE. And children from disadvantaged families will also be badly affected. If Covid thing is to drag on another 1-2 years, 1 year few times of HBL is not the way to go.

Never pull down the mask while in toilet, especially when doing big business!

The students kena Covid from their household members. So it is important to tell our kids not to share food like snacks on school bus etc.

My neighbor recently fried mee goreng for my family. I thanked her but I stared at the plate of mee goreng asking what if they had Covid? Not wise to share food right? In the end, we just ate it lah, 😂

Regarding Jurong Fishery Port, Actually the people there were vaccinated very early on right? Can I say the 破口 is the absence of fortnightly swabbing? The JFP folks have regular contact with Indonesian/Malaysian fish boats, there should be periodic swabbing just like Changi Airport. Which Ministry is in charge of JFP?

Dunno whether got fortnightly testing. But what's the point of fortnightly swabbing when Chinese experts have already said that the incubation period for Delta is as short as 2-3 days? 14 days is enough to have 4-5 generations of transmission.

Periodic swabbing is just to detect early an infection and reduce the spread, if not, we may not know until things have sprawled out of control. It’s not unlike going for medical checkup to detect any serious illness early.

Same like the Changi Airport cluster.. Initially govt thought vast majority of the airport staff vaccinated so there wasn’t any regular swabbing and by the time the 1st case was confirmed, there was already a big cluster in the airport.

For the KTV cluster and JPF, the first patient uncovered was the Vietbu who went to see a doctor for fever and sore throat etc. She was not picked up through surveillance. By the time investigations surfaced the link to JPF, already blown into a big cluster. So it could have been brewing for sometime already if not the Vietbu who went to see doc.

Other key nodes like the Pasir Panjang wholesale centre, if it doesn’t have periodic swabbing, then shouldn’t they be swabbed too?
