wow this year vacancies at Phase 2B is only 53 vs 2020's 97!

Going by historical take up rate at 2B, the average is 25, so at 2C the vacancies would be only around 48!

The take up rate for SMPS is very high this year!
St Margaret vacancies for 2B in 2020 was 62/63 not 97.
and per your stated scenario, with 53 vacancies this year, and take up of say 25 in phase 2b, 81 vacancies will be available in 2C. (still lower than 97 for 2C in 2020)

Oh yes apologies, I misread the 2B vacancies for 2020 and was mistaken over the remaining 2C spaces and thought it was only 20 when in fact its 53. So even after say 25 of 2B are taken, 2C would have left about 81.

Still...take up rate is higher this year. Good sign though, SMPS is getting \"noticed\" haha

SMPS had always been 'noticed'. It was only being ignored in the last couple of years.

I think most of that was due to the temporary site that they are occupying - it's a long way from their actual location. Imagine if you are <1km from Wilkie Road, you are >> 2km from their temp location. That defeats the purpose of choosing a school near to your place. On the other hand, if you are close to their temp, you will be far away from the actual location when SMPS shifts back. Either way, the child will be 'displaced' half of the time that she is there.

Now that SMPS has more or less a fix timeline in which they will be shifting back to renovated campus in Wilkie Road, I believe more people will have less hesitancy in choosing the school, especially when newer and more facilities will be present.

If you’re planning on driving to school, remember to check ERP timings (especially around dismissal times). The Wilkie location is within ERP zone if I recall correctly.

I think dismissal time (1+pm) there is no ERP but then I am not too sure about the timings now due to changes due to Covid (and also WFH). Also now ERP seems to be off most days due to Covid (and WFH).

However, that said, Wilkie road campus won't be the focus as SMPS is now located at Mattar road until Jan 2024 when they move back. Hence even if there is ERP, it won't happen in 2022 and 2023 🙂

But for me, if ERP is back on as normal (back to pre Covid time), I would be affected as I stay at Mount Sophia and thus morning ERP I will be hit as I drive my girl to school and back home it would still be within the morning ERP timing :slapshead:

Just to give some perspective of my experience with SMPS as my gal is currently in P1 now.

Generally, the teachers have been very nurturing. They provides lots of opportunities for the gals to grow in the area of leadership and they do put in good effort to observe the gals and provide constructive inputs to the parents.

As a mission school, I like the culture of the school and best of all it has affiliation to its secondary school which is a plus point.

That was what I was told too. Is it very jammed up in the mornings at Mattar Road?

good day to all kiasu parents :), my daughter just received the confirmation call to join this rich traditional school (P4) in year2022, as we are staying in the Sophia Hills, wondering if there any parents can do the carpool to the school in the morning? since the school bus is really too earlier for the kid to wake up

                        Hi all,

I am considering SMPS vs CHIJ Kellock for Phase 2C and I am currently out of 2KM for both schools. Am choosing these schools because they are girls school, and are affiliated to secondary schools.

If SMPS is a better school, then I would consider moving to be nearer the school to improve my chances. If no difference btw the two, then I might choose CHIJ Kellock as I understand SCs have high chances to get in.

Does anyone have any views on how these two schools compare? Thank you!
