Days on HBL are not marked as absent. Only for absentees with parents letter. AWOL, you know? 😆[/quote]
There are 2 different type of HBL

      1) those that the govt publicly announced and broad cast, \"All schools to go on HBL, for 2 weeks\", yes, you are right. They are not marked as absent.

      Why ?

      Because govt announced mah !

      2) those that the govt didn't announce publicly
      but
      because
some student in their child's school caught the virus and parents scared, worried, self-declared their own HBL, that means, self study at home don't let their kid go to school, this type will go under \"Absent without valid reason \"

      Because

      did govt announce anything ?
      No

        Going forward,

think schools should implement something like what eg. Mavis tuition centre doing. That means, give students the option

        - to attend school physically on site F2F,

        come on, be realistic !

How can u all expect National exam students (Psle / O level/ A level) forever, always on HBL ? Ridiculous !

        Or

        - to attend school from home, via technology platform.

Of course, school Teachers will complain, too much work involved to prepare

DS school has several schoolmates whose parents keep them at home just to be safe. They simply inform the form teacher via email of their reasons. The form teacher does not condemn these kids as playing truant. The kids all know who is staying at home with excuse letter, the kids the teachers - everybody is understanding about it. So there is a gap between what happens on the ground and the official stance on marking such absences as “uncondoned”.

I can also tell u however, that the kids at home are super bored, especially if they have no adult at home to engage them. They msg the class WhatsApp group during school hours saying they are bored & playing computer games whole day is not fun anymore. If parents allow them to go playground to interact with other kids as a solution, it’s also exposure. Complete isolation is not feasible. Even the WFH parents also go out to gai gai & da bao food. Nobody really confines themselves at home for days on end, will go mad.

Weirdly I feel like a certain ministry is trying to boost the hotel industry by giving them more business. QO, the latest new freebie. More and more people I know had been served the QO.

Give business to hotels just to keep them alive only. Else with tourism dead, many hotel staff will be sleeping on the streets by now.

Yes there is a need for more transparency. More information can be shared to reduce anxiety.

It is the responsibility of MOE to assure parents that the vast majority of children are studying in a safe environment.

Don’t just give a number. In this age of big data, give convincing statistics in easy to understand form, like which student got it from home, which are from schools etc.. Use data properly to convince/assure parents.

Another thing to look into is those outsourced school cleaners. Do they ‘butterfly’ to different schools, I mean clean other schools when being assigned by the cleaning company or just stick with one sch throughout?

How to be zero case ?

Men (young, middle aged & old) with stack of cash, come here to seek thrill & fun !

The \"butterfly\" move from room to room swiftly, to earn more fast cash, entertain more customers

                  What's the new attraction ?

They are pretty, slender & articulate, charge different, higher rates than normal, ordinary girls because they are \"prized commodities\"

                  And

worst hit with travel almost zero

Not zero case lah, near zero (single digit).

If we intend to open up to tourists / overseas businessmen soon, we have no choice but to keep such KTV lounges alive for entertainment/nightlife. Else tourists might as well go Bangkok, no reason to come to such a boring country.

The problem is brainy KTVs 老大 know how to step into this gray area where the label “KTV” has been too loosely used!

TEO HENG family karaoke also KTV, Club De Zara also call themselves a KTV. I think should totally stop using KTV as a generic description and split into two different categories, rename it as either Family Karaoke (no hard liquor) or to call a spade a spade, simply “NIGHTCLUBs” (allowed to sell hard liquor). No more gray area KTVs, either you are wholesome family entertainment or you are not.

Was under the impression that all hawkers and market vendors have been vaccinated alongside the cabbies and educators in Mar.
But Grace Fu revealed that not all hawkers and markets have been vaccinated.

\"Ms Fu also urged all workers of the hawker centres and markets affected to go for their Covid-19 tests and get vaccinated.\"
                      https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/consumer/sufficient-supply-of-seafood-despite-jurong-fishery-port-closure-shoppers-urged

It's her KPI to oversee the vaccination uptake for F&B sectors under her ministry's purview. She'd have to discuss with the Singapore Fish Merchants’ General Association on the RRT of fishery port workers and fishmongers. If she implements that on the fishmongers, the other butchers and veggie/fruit sellers must do likewise on a routine basis!

I notice PAP is somewhat fearful of stepping on the toes of old-time hawkers, market vendors, PG and MG. PG and MG form the bulk of PAP's share of votes in every GE, that's why they are quite soft with them.

Speaking of PG and MG, shouldn't Masagos the MSF minister overseeing the elderly population chip in? As second Minister for Health also, Masagos has been rather quiet during the pandemic. How's the vaccine uptake amongst the minorities?

                      https://www.msf.gov.sg/policies/Helping-the-Needy-and-Vulnerable/Supporting-Vulnerable-Elderly/Pages/Services-and-Programmes-for-Elderly.aspx

If this is an MTF, these 2 ministers should step up to help MOH improve the vaccination rate of sectors/sub-populations under their jurisdiction.
This time round is Grace Fu’s oversight lah. JFP, markets and hawker centres as well as KTVs as F&B outlets all under her charge.

Before this Phase 2 HA, I saw Foodcourt staff queuing up to do periodic swabs. KTVs which are now F&B outlets, why no periodic swab? And hawker centres/wet markets, this is the 2nd time blew up already.

Worrying about stepping on old-time hawkers and market vendors but now request them to do 7 day periodic swab? 14 day swab already very intrusive to me.

DH says we may see a CB 2 very soon cos the numbers are not coming down and ICU cases going up. Then we have to thank J Teo for CB1 and G Fu for CB2!
